My dp has been paying csa for his son since 2003. Today we get a letter saying he is over£5000 in arrears to his ex and it can be paid at a rate of £360 per month on top of his csa. We were told in april that he was clearly overpaying for his son and it would be looked at to be reduced. How come they never mentioned arrears and why have they not been mentioned for 4 years. My dp just assumed he was paying them off. Can they just expect them today? We have phoned and basically was told csa comes before roof over your head even though I we 2 have kids

Hi not really sure he is at work but his son went to live with his mother in 2003 dont know if that helps. I just cant believe that all of a sudden they want this money. He has been paying by standing order through csa.0

If he is on CSA1 then it will be housing allowance etc and be quite complicated to work out or if it is CSA2 then it will be 15% for 1 child does any of this sound familiar?
I would strongly advise you contact a company called nacsa, they are fantastic and have helped lots of people by working out your "arrears" and putting it right, they ask for a donation to join and from memory it is something like £45 for a years subscription but trust me if you are battling the CSA they are worth their weight in gold!:T:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
You have to remember that they dont care about children just makeing their targets, they creat more child povity in second families and then destroy them out of hand, than is possible to imagin!0

Have they explained how the arrears have come about?August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
NSD : 2/80 -
In my experience you shouldnt ever assume anything when it comes to the CSA!!!When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

Blob, I concur. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
This is 2009 - sorry I don't agree but there is child poverty in working families in the UK...not with our generous benefit/WTC system.
And quite frankly, any parent that allows their child to 'live in poverty' should be done for child abuse. If money is tight then there are plenty second, third or even fourth jobs out there to make sure that children aren't in 'poverty'.
If any child is living in poverty then it sure as hell isn't the CSA fault:rolleyes:
Any yeah, to back this up, I DO have 4 jobs...and I'm a lone parent with very limited support around me. I'd rather die then ever think my daughter could live in poverty. I want a nice life so I will go out and bloody work for it and not blame any Government agencies.0 -
we don't get wtc because we earn too much, but then the csa take their bit - if we were earning the money that we are left with we would be entitled to £50 per week wtc, but because we earn it and then pay the csa we end up worse off - so child poverty may be a bit strong but wtc doesn't come into it!!!! ( if that makes sense which i dont think it does but the csa make me so angry i cant think straight!)0

This happend to us.. we asked for a breakdown it never came.. they just made excuses told us to cash in my sons college fund to pay the arrears or borrow money from the bank or friends.
I asked them AgAIN to break it down for me.. they refused just said according to the pay.. and i said we told you about changes of jobs etc they claimed we NEVEr called or wrote to them!
they wont backdate anything they said its too late.
but you can ask them to spread the payments over 2 years.0
