Greentec mobile recycle

Options
I have sent an old mobile phone to a company in London called Greentec who says on their web site that if you recycle your old mobile they will send your money within 3 days.
I have had e mail from them last week saying that they have run out of cheques and there will be a delay.
It has been 12 days now since they received my Nokia N95, has anyone else dealt with this firm?:money:

Web site looks to have been set up recently in June 2009 (copyright on site says 2008-2009 hmmm).
Address looks private residential - no doubt a single individual - not to be recommended.

Saying that don't want to alarm you - it might be the individual has no slips left in their cheque book but dodgey (could pay direct to bank if that were the case).

  • Thanks Oneaday, I had the option of them putting monet direct to my bank but I was not sure of giving my bank details over the internet.

I went on Google Maps streetview and it looks like a flat next to a cafe.

I sent an e mail to them yesterday but no answer yet

    Beware of these!

  • has telford333 received his money from Greentec yet? Their deals look to good to be true so would like to know the result or has anyone else dealt with them for mobile recycling??
  • I have posted my phone here(before reading this). Will let you know if I get my moneY!!
  • Update- Have had my money paid into my bank, approx 7 days after they received my phone. Phew!No one answers their phoneline though, and no replies to my emails, so would not use again.
  • Hi All,

I`ve just signed up as i googled greentec scam and got redirected here.

I sent my phone nokia n85 to greentec last week. I had an email yesterday saying that it does not work so instead of the £130 they offered me,they will give me £78.The phone works,as i was using it. its only 7 months old so is still under warranty. i have emailed and phoned asking them to send it back but nobody seems very interested. just wondering if anybody else has had this problem with greentec?

  • Hi

I also sent my phone off to Greentec without checking reading this post. They were on most of the phone comparison websites so I didnt think anything of sending my phone to them. I sent it by recorded delivery on Monday and decided to google them yesterday and found this post. Worried I emailed them asking if they could confirm receipt of my phone as they say they do on their website and they have just emailed back asking me to confirm the tracking number. The phone has been delivered and signed for by Greentec (the printed signed for name says Greentec) but now I am worried that they might say the phone has been damaged or even that they haven’t received it! I was wary about giving my bank details to them so asked them to pay by cheque. Has anyone else been paid by cheque and how long did it take?
  • after much messing around a postage return cost of £7.50 i finally got my phone back last week.

it worked fine and i sent it off to mazzuma and had the cheque within 48 hours.

it seems to me that greentec are trying it on and claiming to offer the highest, then saying the phone don`t work in the hope that the customer will just accept the lower offer. i wouldnt be suprised if they then send it off to another recycler. it seems to me that the "business" is run from a flat, and my guess is by a school boy and his mum,as the lady on the phone only ever answers up to 3pm and then the emails get sent after 3 pm as if mummy answers the phone making excuses during the day til son comes home!

my advice to anybody is don`t be tempted by the extra £10 or £20 and avoid greentec!!!
