Do I have a right to time off work for scan of baby?

Could you not get the appointment rescheduled to a day when the other guy is NOT on holiday?
Why not just ask your boss which days would be suitable for him?
I don't think it would be that easy to reschedule a pregnancy scan due to the fact that they tend to be scheduled at 12 weeks 20 weeks etc for good reasons.
OP it's such a shame - as shellsuit says the scan shouldn't take long so you probably won't need to take the whole day off - how far away is the hospital?0 -

Does that mean you will be far away from the hospital where the scan is taking place OP?

i don't think 2 weeks would make any difference. could you not mention it again and throw a sickie???loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
TBH I would take it higher, legally they may not have a right, but morally they do. If as you say, you aren't even doing the same job as the guy who is on holiday then it is obviously just this guy flexing his muscles. I would speak to him and say you are willing to take it unpaid if necessary just to get the time allowed. If he still refuses, then say you are forced to take it higher as you feel he is being unreasonable.
If they still refuse I personally would prob get my DH to pull a sicky, but it is a bit stupid really as they may be able to fire you if you don't have a sick note.
ETA- I cross posted re the sicky thing. Glad it isn't just me who thinks that, I thought ppl would flame me for it!0 -

Not sure - OP you say you've had the first scan - is this scan the 20 week?
I thought this was the most important abnormality one and they did it at 20 weeks for a reason.0 -
I think by first scan he means the 12 week oneWhat's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

It can be done between 18 and 22 weeks so it might be worth trying to get the scan booked for another date. Hope you can get something sorted out.0

If it's any consolation, my cousin is pregnant at the moment and her '20 week' scan is scheduled for when she is actually 23 weeks gone, so I'd reschedule the appointment, which will keep everyone happy and your job safe.
You don't want your employers to have any excuse to sanction you with a baby on the way do you?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

OP says he has been to the first scan and this is the 2nd one
Unless the first was an early dating scan?
Looks as though the 2nd can be done between 18-22 weeks thpugh so perhaps rescheduling is an option - hope so OP - would be awful if you had to miss it0
