agree with adouglasmhor, in the court case about the woman who was killed by cows when dog walking a while ago, the judge advised people to keep dogs off lead.
Dogs can be 'under close control' whilst off lead! I just say 'walk with me' to my dog and she trots along at heel - it sounds as if the OPs dogs were under close control to me!0 -

I have infact read more about the inquest of the vet that was killed recently than you have, as you are confusing the inquest of the vet Liz Crowsley in Yorkshire to which I referred with the inquest of Anita Hinchey in cardiff.0 -

I just looked and couldn't spot it either (normally I would have posted a link in my response) - I heard it on Radio 4 yesterday!0 -
here you go:Peter Davies, who owns the field, said the best way to deal with cows if they showed curiosity was to "shoo" them.
He also advised that when walking dogs through cattle, it was "vital" they were taken off their leads.
"Cows are docile, generally speaking. Put them with a dog and that's not always the case," he said.
"Cattle can behave in a different way if they feel the dog is a threat to them.
"It would be most unusual for a cow not to check you out in a fairly forceful fashion."
Recording her verdict, the coroner said: "The likelihood was the dog was off the lead and we've heard the dog should be off the lead when with cattle.
andAsked by Mary Hassall, the Cardiff Coroner, what advice he would give to dog walkers to avoid being trampled, he said: “If you’re walking your dog through sheep, it’s vital you put the dog on a lead. If you’re walking a dog through cattle, it’s absolutely vital you take your dog off the lead.”0 -
It is not the vet Liz Crowsley's inquest that said to let dogs off the lead, which is the death I was referring to, but infact I have found Anita Hinchey's. For reference http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/cardiff-news/2009/10/22/dog-walker-trampled-to-death-by-cows-91466-24992484/
So adouglasmhor is actually the one confused as my post referred to Liz Crowsley and not Anita Hinchey. My reason for quoting Liz HInchey's death is that as a vet she would certainly have been aware of the dangers and the correct way to behave and yet she was killed and so for the OP's own benefit you can never accept that you are in no danger.0 -

No contradiction, unlike you I seem to have no problem making personal choices and not forcing my choices on to others.

It takes a second to let a dog off a lead, and in this situation it could save your life! Especially where beef cattle are concerned:eek:
If you or anyone else can show video of anyone taking a dog of an ordinary lead in a second especially when a cow is charging at you I will back down.
But I am not holding my breath
This is my last post in this thread unless one of you can show this. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
