Body rebuilt and resprayed in 1999 (11 years old, not bad for a mini) and now 10 years down the line how do you think the rebuilt body will be holding up?
Just saw it sold for £756. Too much in my opinion.0 -
Hope you avoided it.
First time seller, lots of inaccuracies and generally doesnt look very good. Someone selling a heap imo0 -
No I didn't buy it in the end. I've seen much nicer ones go for £900 I think, so I'll keep looking. It was just that this one was local. Thanks so much for all your help everyone.0

Tbh If I was you and your looking for something like this I would look at a specialist dealer or autotrader.
Ebay auctions whilst there is some quality on the whole are heaps people want rid of and why they choose this option.
A dealer has to meet minimum standards and autotrader is a costing option so less likely to get scammers looking for a quick buck
Personally if I was buying a mini I'd pay the extra for a car like this. Its more expensive than most but it looks pristine and is backed by the SOGA http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200942343918387/sort/priceasc/search-target/usedcars/make/austin/model/mini/price-to/2000/postcode/la94uf/page/1/search-used-vehicles/update%20results?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedcars%2Fpostcode%2Fla94uf%2Fmake%2Faustin%2Fmodel%2Fmini%2Fprice-to%2F2000%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fpage%2F1%2Fsearch-used-vehicles%2Fupdate%2520results&anchor=advert200942343918387&logcode=p
Definitly hold out though rather than going for a quick buy0 -
Aye but then you are assuming they have done the work correctly.
OP I wouldn't be too worried about things like seats and steering columns (obviously within reason) BUT I would be more worried about rust and/or hidden rust that is the real killer for a car like this.
PS I didn't think it looked too bad (from the photos).......
A good look round any mini will tell a tale. Often though, if its owned by an enthusiast, there'll be a file full of receipts and photos of any work done. Might cost a fair bit more than this one, but worth every penny.
Totally agree about the rust on these things - they rust EVERYWHERE.0 -
Try signing up on some owners clubs, that tends to be where the best examples get offered first then if nobody on the forums wants it they go to the wider audience.0

Thanks for all your suggestions. That one on autotrader is stunning anihilator, and not as expensive as I thought it might be. I'll keep looking...0

at a glance it does look tidy, but have a closer look at the sill, there looks like rust in front of the rear wheel arch and a few other spots starting below the drivers door. it might be a sign of worse underneath....work permit granted!0
