  • Ohh your evening sounds fab Pen, especially the wine  Do you have anything planned for the weekend or is it usual chores? Have a great weekend either way :D
  • Hi EH and Pap.

EH, well done for resisting the wine on a Friday night. That's my favourite glass of the week!

Pap, I don't have to pick DS up until tomorrow evening so I am planning a nice lie in tomorrow morning and then I might even treat DH to lunch somewhere. We live out in the sticks so there are lots of nice country pubs that do decent priced meals. Then I really want to find all the Christmas cards I've bought over the years and get writing this year's. We have a massive family so it will take all afternoon.

Really I can't wait to put the tree up next weekend. Its going to take all my will power not to do it tomorrow!

Have a good weekend everyone
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
  • Ha ha, so much for my lazy day. Woke up really early and couldn't get back to sleep. Then decided to re-tile the bathroom floor, clean the car and even cooked a roast dinner. Nice cheap day though, the flooring cost less than £20.

We're all now settled in home, looking for a good movie to watch.

  • Another couple of crazy days in Pen's household. Yesterday I left DH in charge at home and was finally able to go and buy him a few bits for Christmas. I didn't spend too much and it was cash. Also looked after a friends dog for him during the afternoon which was a totally daft idea given that we have two old and two new cats in the house! Still everyone survived in one piece.

Today we had to get the gas board out as one of our sensors was going off. Everything was checked and re-set and nothing was wrong so luckily no major costs there either. I did go out and get a sandwich lunchtime though. I'm getting slack on that but as I've only 11 days left to do in the office before my christmas break I'm not too worried about it. Its really stressful at work at the moment and I need to get out for a change at lunchtime or I would loose the plot.

Other than that, still knocking a bit of the debt each day. Will have the club book paid off in the next week, which will be a nice feeling.

  • Hi Penelopedee,

You posted in my diary way way back in July :D and gave me some most welcome words of wisdom and encouragement.

Hows your ongoing DFW going on?

Shoegal and Missymoo (to name just two, many more nice folks out there!) also have diaries and are both nice to chat as they provide ongoing encouragement and good ol' banter

Hi Chrisblue and Missymoo, thanks for your lovely comments.

Having a bit of a nightmare week at work, so feeling a bit unmotivated at the mo and unsociable. All the easy debt is gone now, can't believe how much extra I managed to clear on Paps 100 day challange.

I was going to give myself a break over Christmas but I'm worried if I do I won't pick up again in january. But I don't want to leave us short over Christmas as the family have been really good over the last couple of months and deserve a bit of a treat.

Anyway, enough of the boring stuff. Finished my final clubbook payment today. Managed somehow to get through work without screaming, and DS and I have spent a good evening in together chatting and having a laugh. Kittens are going mental as usual. I'm now having a sneaky glass of DH's red wine:beer:

I'm going to search out your diaries now and have a nose, if you don't mind.

  • Pen - why not work out your budget so that there is room for some treats but without just having a total blowout? If you've budgetted for, say, a takeaway twice over the holidays then it's fine, its when you find yourself ging for one just because you can't be bothered cooking that it's a problem!

I reckon you'll be fine knuckling back down to it after christmas - keep coming on here and we won't let you fail!

  • Thanks EH the support is much appreciated.

I've decided I'm going to keep going over Christmas where possible, as I miss knocking a bit of the debt each day. It feels like I'm ignoring it if I don't.

Put the Christmas tree up yesterday. Actually I put ended up dressing two trees. I did our large one first then the kittens decided it was a new adventure playground. So that one got taken down again and I've put up a smaller one, up off the floor so they can't reach it. DS wasn't very impressed with the size of the tree though!

Family evening in tonight, with a couple of friend coming round as well. So I expect I a few glasses of wine will be drunk.

Well I was going to give up the diary. Having loads of family troubles re. christmas blah blah blah .... Just like I expect many of us are.

But then Pap, rescued the situation with a lovely post today which totally restored my faith in this.

So just to update you I've started my own personal mini challenge of 'what can I achieve at Christmas' just to keep me motivated until the next 100 day challenge starts again - will keep updating via my signature.

As for life at Pen's Towers. We are all well, a bit stressed and wading through mud. But everything is well and healthy. Christmas has landed but the kittens are happily pulling all the tree and decs down like they do!

My part time job is looking a bit more sunny than before but DH's is very ropey. As for DS, he is a joy, as always.

Tonight I've had a lovely night off whilst DH did all the childcare activities, actually leaving me an hour or so to write Christmas cards, vacuum and then have a glass of white in peace. Bless them, I am sooo lucky.
