Wow indeed, tis bizarre.

Wonder why Nigella didnt bake them herself :rotfl:
Oooh, lets see some pics :j you clever girl.0 -
She didn't bake them herself because it's for an art installation featuring bakeries from London. Just looked at my account and the money is in, so I guess it's for real! How exciting. And weird. And what a great thing to put on my cake CV!I'll try to post pics later but I have techno disaster going on at the moment and also, is it wise to post pics of nice cakes on a diet thread? Will I be lynched?0

Ooooh I wanna see the cake pics sarah.
Well done you. *goes off to find the 'I'm not worthy' smilie* :rotfl:
Well I've been pricked and I'm back.
Acupuncturist seemed very thorough, she asked loads of questions about allsorts, even things that I wouldn't have thought were anything to do with anything but there you go, what do I know, lol.
She reckons my hormonal issues need to be resolved first before my weight issues can be managed in order to stop the constant yo-yo effect which is stuffing up my metabolism. She seemed to know exactly what my problems were, even to the point of telling me that my blood flow was probably very clotty (sorry if tmi). She was right.
She says it's a vicious circle in that the hormones are making me feel worse and are affecting my weight but the weight is also making my hormones worse and my period heavier and longer etc. So first step is to try to get the hormones under control.
I lay on one of those beds with a hole for your face and she stuck needles in my back, most of them were not a problem, a couple of them were a wee bit sore but nothing like I was anticipating. Once they'd been in a while, she 'twanged ' them (that's my own techinical term there) and some were a bit nippy whilst others felt numb. She also put magnets in my left ear. I thought she said 4 but I can only find 3 so maybe I've lost one already.
She put them on with a gun thing and that was worse than the needles. I need to press them so many times a day. I also got a bottle of Chinese herbs which smell disgusting and look like mini rabbit droppings.
I need to take 8 twice a day.. Lovely.
All for the princely sum of £41. (£35 for acupuncture and £6 for herbs)
She reckons I'll need at least 3 sessions before next period is due so I'm going back next Monday. I have noooooo idea if all this will help or not but I'm going to be positive about it just in case it's all in the mind. :rotfl:
I felt quite tired when I came home which surprised me as I thought I'd be all fired up....then I read the information sheet she gave me and it said ' you will probably feel tired after your first session.....' so at least I reacted normally. :rotfl:
I tried to take a pic of my ear to show you the magnets but I need it to be close up to see them, and then it gets too blurry because it's too close up iyswim.
So, I've made a start at least. Next step in a few weeks will be the hypnoband thing.
Oh and I had cravings on the drive home......for fish and grated cauli.Yay!
On the down side, my car conked out on the way home and it's now sat in the garage. But hey, that's ok, I'll just walk more. < See what I did there? Positivity at it's best. :rotfl:

Excellent Alias. That all sounds good. It must feel good to be doing something - I know several people who rave about acupuncture.0
-
well done Alias, you have now taken a step further to helping yourself, I am so pleased for you.
acupunture does have wonderful results, I can't wait to start mine, I sometimes watch videos on youtube of it and find it very relaxing to watch.
Right I am starting my attempt to make cauli pizza, woo hoo.0 -

Definitley post pics - yes i'll drool but I am a masochist like that:D0 -
Sweet - Have a holiday with the kids, hubs will understand, hope that he gets sorted out quickly it must be a nightmare.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I want to do it!!The thing is, hubby goes away each year with his pals on a cycling trip & he's still talking about doing it this year even with his dodgy appendix!! Makes me mad that he can still do that but not book anything for us as a family 'just in case'
Wonder why Nigella didnt bake them herself :rotfl:
And isn't her hubby on the 'boiled egg' diet?! Silly sod!! :rotfl:Right I am starting my attempt to make cauli pizza, woo hoo.
Good luck!! I made mine for the first time tonight & it was, erm... interestingIt was a bit soggy & it stuck to the greaseproof paper so I ended up eating the bits that I managed to salvage, none left so will never know if it would have firmed up to be more pizza-like!! :rotfl: Oh well, will try it again another time & maybe follow the recipe a bit more closely next time
alias, that sounds brilliant, not sure about the magnets in the ear though _pale_ Hope it all works out for you, fingers crossed, I can see us all joining up if it's a success!! Postive thoughts!!0 -
Wish me luck ladies I am going to attempt lcing <gulps>
What prompted me was I had a plate of ham (from a joint cooked in SC) and coleslaw and nothing else. I then spent the afternoon lazing around watching a bit of tennis and on the 'puter. But rather unusually I didn't have any cravings or the urge to snack which is what I normally would. I was putting this down to the lack of carbs maybe?
A quick question if I may.....how do you manage buying lots of meat? It's not something I can really afford (lets be honest spuds and pasta are cheap) and I wondered how much money you guys spend on stuff generally?
Really not sure how this is going to pan out, how will I cope without my beloved pasta and my baking. I mean some people do retail therapy - I bake because I love it and enjoy the proceeds:o
Anyway going to give a wee try and see how the land lies in a few days.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

My shopping bill is huge. We've always spent far too much money on shopping.
It's got even bigger since I started icing, buying low carb food is not cheap. I eat a lot of fish, steak and chicken and it costs.
I just have to accept that spending more money is what it's going to take for me to lose weight. And that includes the acupuncture etc. I couldn't keep spending like this forever, our budget is pretty tight and this is putting more of a strain on things but it's important to me and I'm running out of time to do something about it so needs must.
Btw, if you can get past the first 3-4 days, it's plain sailing after that.Herman - MP for all!0
