I was evil last night. No other way to describe what I did to myself. :o Plate of chips and cold meat at around 8.30pm and a whole box of ice cream Munchie bars. :o Oh and some more crackers later.

I don't understand why, after being so good for weeks and having a smaller stomach to fill, I still binge. You'd think that desire would have lessened and I would have been full and satisfied after one or two things but no, I sit there like some greedy fat cartoon pig with all my spoils around me and a gleeful look on my face. It's disgusting.

I suspect its down to the old brain giving out pleasure hormones and eating refined foods (sugars) that cause unbalanced insulin levels

i never could understand why after eating a pizza gogo super pizza and 4 garlic cheese bread and a box of wedges i would then want a large bag 135g of maltesers and the same sized bag of minstrels, about 4000 cals :(:(:( .....

Yeah. But it's a pure psychological thing too. Alias, you've done so well so far. When I used to binge, it used to be about fear of failure. I thought that I couldn't bear to stick really well to the diet and then step on the scales to find that I hadn't lost any, or as much as I thought I deserved. I was so in fear of that happening that I found it easier to eat lots of bad things, then at least I knew that I would have a real reason for not losing. Sounnds insane, and it is. But that was what was going on at a deeper level, no matter how I tried to justify. When you add the psych explanation to Eric's physiological explanation I think you get close to the answer. Though your psych reason may be slightly different from mine.

Can you pinpoint something that happened yesterday that made you feel bad? That made the food call?

I hadn't had anything to kick start this off though. I agree once the process is started, the likelihood is that you will want more and more but it's not like I'd eaten anything 'bad' before this happened.

That's what I don't understand......yesterday wasn't a particularly stressful day, there was nothing that I needed to 'calm' with food. I was sat in the living room reading the paper when I had this really strong craving for food. It was physical, not the upset kind of feeling I sometime have when I comfort eat. I didn't even want sweet things or chocolate particularly, just food. I wasn't even any hungrier than normal, I just felt this almost caveman like need to feast.

I know that sounds dramatic :rotfl: but it's hard trying to describe it. That's why I said it was like someone flicking a switch on. I'm pretty in tune with my body and know when I ovulate for instance. I firmly believe something in this process turns on some primative need to feed the body so it has a plentiful supply of energy in readiness for it to do it's thing. Does that sound really daft. Cos I believe it. :o:D I don't have the same urge to eat today, it's almost like it's had it stores replenished so it's flicked off the switch again. :o Stop laughing at me.....it makes sense to me. :rotfl:

    Have highlighted possible problem areas.

Too much fruit for low carb.
    What is in your coleslaw?
What do you take in your coffee?
How many carbs per 100g in the sausages?

You don't seem to eat much salad/veg?

HI Foxy. Apples, Strawberries, tangerines - none of them are low carb. Coleslaw may also be a problem depening how much onion/carrot you put in. Add in much more green leafy stuff like spinach, savoy cabbage, lettuce, chinese leaf. ANything green. If you do that and cut out the fruit you should see a big difference. As g&b said, Ketchup is stuffed full of sugar.

Apart from that your menu looks good. Did you have milk in your coffee? Also bad. All these little high/medium carb things will add up and knock you out of ketosis. Fruit is off limits, particularly if you only have a little bit of weight to lose.

Beware sugar free sweets. FIrst, look att he carb count. More than 4g of carbs per 100g? If so, ditch them. Even if not, treat with caution. TOo many will have you running for the loo in no time :(

Do you think I am eating too much fruit?:(

Yes. :rotfl:If you are low carbing, you need to ditch the fruit for now. AND the cheese strings which are plastic and full of nasties and although you technically don't need to count calories if you're counting carbs, you could be taking in too many for something with no nutritional value. THROW THEM AWAY. :D

I think the peperami can make you retain fluid because of the high salt level so I'd cut down on them too. You need less processed stuff and more fresh stuff without additives and preservatives.

If you need something 'stickish' to eat on the go or nibble on, get a cold cooked chicken breast and slice into 'bars'. (Did you use those small wooden cubes for counting at primary school? 10 of them made up a solid stick of 10. Well that's the size I cut my chicken into. :rotfl:) I'm not a lover of plain dry chicken so I get a little Hellman's (full fat) mayonnaise and use it as a dip for the chicken sticks. Or I get a couple of Romaine lettuce leaves, (I cut the spine bit out of the centre cos I'm fussy :D), I smear a little mayo on then a slice of ham or chicken or even corned beef if I've got nothing else (*spit spit* :D) and roll it up like a sausage and spike it with a cocktail stick to keep it together. Handy for snacky lunch. Mix a little mayo and curry powder together for a spicier taste.

I always try to have some sort of veg at teatime. It's usually grated cauli, turnip or broc. I'm fond of grated cauli dry pan fried for around 5 minutes and then used as a filler and mixed with fish or bacon or chicken or even chopped boiled egg. I stir in a spoonful of double cream (hate cream normally - can only eat it like this) and sometimes spinkle cheese on top, or mix in a little curry powder just to ring the changes.

I've been low carbing for more years than I care to remember and without doubt, I lose more weight if my meals are kinda balanced. If I get lazy and live off the same thing all the time, I tend to plateau. I'm wondering if that's happening with you.

Edit: Sorry for repeating, there were no posts when I started typing then the phone went. :D

wow thanks, lots of good tips there, alias - excellent idea with the lettuce leaf and ham & mayo - yum.

I feel like such a naughty school girl now - really thought I was doing well, that'll explain why I am hardly shifting anything - although I have definitley lost some inches as my pants keep slipping down today.

To be honest, I am glad you said the pepperami isn't that great as I am sick to death of eating them.
The cheese strings I am gutted about though as I enjoyd them.:o

I eat alot of salad through the week as that is my lunch at work but i definiltey don't eat enough veg, I know that and I am just so lazy, I tend to cook everything on the George Foreman grill and cooking veg means pots and pans (I suppose I should buy the steam veg packs for the microwave but you should see the look I get of OH when I do - he's like, 'how much'???!!!??)

So can I eat cheese until it is coming out of my ears then?? Growing quite fond of cheese, and I used to hate it, but love the cheesy crisps.:D

The coleslaw is mayo, cabbage and cheese I think, really nice, my mum made it, don't think there is any carrot or onion, i'll check with her.

Coffee, unfortunatley, I do have milk in it (full fat) but have gone from 2 sugars to 0 so feel quite proud of that, but will try and cut it out and have green tea instead.

The fruit I will stop, the only reason I have it is that it is just easy to grab in the mornings, I will be more prepared and make things beforehand the night before.

Breakfast has got to be the hardest part as I can't eat first thing in the morning so I don't tend to have my breakfast until I get to work and eat at my desk. Hmm maybe a couple of sausages cooked the night before? (low carb ones).

    Thanks guys, MWAH:T

Eh.....no. :D Sure you're allowed cheese, but you still need to eat it in moderation otherwise it might stall you again.

Just another thought....check the type of mayo, some brands are double the carb count than others. No point in trying to be really careful if you're inadvertantly loading up with hidden carbs. :D
