Hope your hubby is feeling ok Sweet, cant believe they haven't fed him since thursday. I would be so grumpy - i don't like being hungry:o

I think we have been very lucky in our dealings with the NHS, a few little niggles but with the amount of times we have used them for varying serious ailments they have been brilliant:T In fact my little girl actually likes going into hospital:rotfl:Which is good for us as she needs surgery every 6 months and i don't think i could take it if she was upset going in:(

Yesterday was lack of communication between department/ward. The ultrasound dept were having staff training but this crucial bit of information hadn't been passed on to the wards!! Hubby could have been sat there 'going mad with the hunger' all day if he hadn't asked the nurse what was happening!! :( He's obviously not an emergency case though, the senior doc at the hospital said he wasn't sure it was appendicitis as hubby not in enough pain but his 'home' doc was pretty sure that's what it was which it was why he was referred to hosp in the first place

g&b, I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on with the Paul McKenna system. I bought his 'confidence' cd a while back, just need to actually use it now :o

I'm going to start exercising using the wii again, got the wii fit plus the other day & it looks really good. My DDs have been on it & there's some good routines, looks quite fun to do as well :D Hopefully start it next week, plus I'm hoping to start my walking every day. I will, I will, I will!! :rotfl:

I think this is why the Paul McKenna system is good, it changes how you think about food. It worked for me previously and i sat around a consistent 8st 10 for about 2 years.
Then i decided i wanted to lose about half a stone before i went on holiday and started low carbing, i'm now over 10 stone as i yo yo'd in and out of low carb, over eating when i wasnt low carbing and i think my body may have rebelled a little at the craziness:o

I'm now using the Paul McKenna system again and feel a lot more relaxed around food. Will let you know how i get on:D

Now I tried his system but tend only focus on the "Eat what you want" and ignore everything else :rotfl::rotfl:
I think the problem for me with PMK is I still look at it like another diet rather than a change in the way of eating :o

Anyway I am aiming for a better relationship with food, trying to enjoy it more than the need for a sugar rush ;)

Keep us posted on your efforts - I do think really it's the way to go...

Sweet - can't believe your poor H. Perhaps he's got a grumbling appendix - still not good either way. Hope he can get it sorted soon xx

Eric, you always seem pretty upbeat and matter of fact, do you never feel depressed about it all? I struggle with trying to keep positive sometimes and just feel pretty isolated and lonely. (Admittedly that's down to more reasons than just my weight issues, but the end result is the same.) Food was always my comforter so it's doubly hard at times.

It's always easy on paper isn't it? :D

It's not the food that's made us fat, it's our mindsets. :(

i stress eat, comfort eat, boredom eat, graze whilst watching tv / playing games, eat to do something till its time to eat :rotfl:

and yeah i was bipolar depressed for most of the last 10 years

the depressions mostly gone now that i am eating healthy, taking plenty of healthy oils and doing a little exercise, omega3 defiantly seams to chill you out.

I am mainly just furious now about my size now, being a dump truck after loosing so much weight is just !!!!ing shocking ...

I think that's why I need to constantly re-read books like Beyond Chocolate and Breaking Free from Emotional Eating - need reminding on a regular basis :o

The trouble is its more than just emotional eating, there are physical addictions with food (i suspect aliasojo's addiction with spuds was more to do with the fat/oil on them than the spuds themselves) and its one of the reasons i have problem with mckenna's system as it requires constant concious will power to overcome them, a very hard thing to do long term, and why i prefer hardcore detox from the addictions for 2 weeks (most people can be focused for 2 weeks) and then there's no cravings. I still do think hes basic principle of being concious about food is bang on thou.

one of the other problems with mckenna's system is you can still eat crap, being thin does not mean your healthy, my bro in law (early 50s) has been in the perfect BMI all his life, hes just been diagnosed with hypertension and the early stages of coronary heart disease, he didnt over eat but he ate a large amount of cholesterol and salt his entire life...

TBH his tapping technique does work (well at least for me) to deal with cravings - I just need to remember to use it BEFORE I stuff something in my mouth :o

I agree to a certain extent about being able to eat crap BUT give me unlimited access to junk food and rubbish and I don't want it. Spent my honeymoon in Florida - nothing but burgers and chips for 2 weeks  I was literally craving a roast dinner with lots of veg by the end of it. I do believe our bodies know what's best but we override this with eating for other reasons, be it cravings, food addiction or whatever. There have been plenty of times I've wanted to eat something but all I had was cake or chocolate and that wasn't what my body was asking for.

I think theres's a few of us that would say the same Eric. :D

I'm getting that feeling too now. :( With things not being too good in my life, I've very conscious of having wasted the last few years. My weight is partly to blame for it all going wrong, in that I wouldn't have become the shrinking violet I am now. The older you get, the more life just seems to slip away so I'm angry and resentful about that. I don't accept the thinking that says you can still be fat and happy. For me personally, I can't.

In my head, I'm out there being the life and soul, but in reality I'm on the couch. But hopefully not for too much longer!

Today's weigh in showed I've now lost a total of 27 lbs. Almost 2 stone lighter than I was a few months ago. Still a long way to go but I'm feeling a little better about getting there. I need to make exercise a constant but it's difficult going from a couch potato to a gym bunny. It needs to become a habit and at the moment I don't do it often enough for it to do so. :(

Perhaps you should try EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique): http://www.eftuniverse.com/

I think this is what Paul McKenna bases his tapping method on, though I haven't looked at it so can't be sure.

I wouldn't normally recommend something I haven't tried myself but so many people, including some professionals, rave about this method although it does seem strange. It is on my list of things to do when I have more time.

Its devotees say it's better to have treatments via a practitioner but many get results by themselves.

It's not a magic wand but maybe worth a go.

    Regards

i have a hankering for a roast dinner, trouble is i have to cook it, chickens defrosted ready to go :D

i honestly have not had any cravings for 19 weeks now, realistically i could go all day without eating food as i am never really that hungry, i only ate breakfast today because my stomach literally was screaming at me but there was no emotional desire to eat and i could have skipped it, i am in ketosis thou this morning as i can wiff ammonia at the moment.

our bodies do to an extent know what we want, but they also "know" that our very large brains need a lot of energy (20 watts) and the brain does reward eating high fat high sugar foods, trouble is it does not know we have food everywhere now and there is no famine

    you can do it :T:T:T

in my experience exercise is like detoxing the crap that gives us cravings, it takes a moderate will power for 3 odd weeks but once you are past that part your body rewards you with endorphins which make you feel great, and you actually start to crave exercise :j:j:j
