Are you kidding?
I know you said not to....but I've been picture hopping tonight. Found a nice one.I know I'm not gonna....but for a wee while, just thinking about it breaks the monotony.
I'm obviously referring to pictures of cake. :whistle:Herman - MP for all!0 -
Lol Daisy...I did read the post....and struggled to believe any of it. :rotfl:
It's like when you first heard you could eat sausage bacon and eggs on a low carb diet and lose weight....that didn't ring true either. But it worked.
There's a class in the next town to us so wouldn't be too much of a hardship to go along, it's just 'yet another' one on my list of things to consider trying. Oh when does it all end? :rotfl:
the main thing is that no matter what diet you are on if you want to loose weight you have to eat less cals that you burn, technically they could be any food, you could loose weight on a 100% snickers bar only diet, although you would be pretty hungry and feel crap i suspect
Generally most diets with "free" foods are working on the principle that the foods you can eat a lot of are pretty tasteless so in reality you get sick of them so its hard to over eat them. I couldn't eat a large amount of boiled spuds, 2 kilos of chips on the other hand
From looking at the research some people do react differently low / high carb diets, I suspect this is a genetic disposition although I have not seen anything to substantiate this.
Personally I don't think i could stick to a true LC diet, 20% carbs would be very hard to stick to everyday, however I have no problem sticking to 30-33% carbs and my body really seams to like it, never hungry, no cravings, rarely hungry and excellent insulin levels.0 -

What's this thing called a "life"????? I don't appear to have one either
Re reading my Beyond Chocolate book - it all makes so much sense but why oh why can't I eat like a normal person <rollseyes>
Oh well at least I haven't put any weight on which can only be a good thing........just wish I could make it head in the other direction.
Actually I think that's half my problem TBH. I focus too much on losing weight rather than tackling my relationship with food and making effort in that areaIf I sorted out the latter then weightloss is the added bonus.......doh <smacks forehead>

I'm embarrassed to admit that potatoes are part of the reason I'm fat. When I was cooking them for the family's dinner, I would 'test' one from the pan every now and then to see if it was ready. I'd test it on a plate mashed with butter.
Didn't matter if it was still pretty hard either. By the time dinner was ready, there would be only a small handful of spuds left in the pan cos I'd have ate my way through most of them. :rotfl:
I would worry that if I started eating them again on the Slimming World plan for instance, I might very quickly become out of control again. I do sometimes think it's just like being an alcoholic, once you've become so out of control....there's no going back, and you're better to avoid rather than try to moderate.

Completely agree with you.Eric_Pisch wrote: »I have spent the last 10 years stuck on my computer playing online games like warcraft, I never go out as I look like a freak and as a result I have no friends at all.
Amazed my wife put up with it...
Eric, you always seem pretty upbeat and matter of fact, do you never feel depressed about it all? I struggle with trying to keep positive sometimes and just feel pretty isolated and lonely. (Admittedly that's down to more reasons than just my weight issues, but the end result is the same.) Food was always my comforter so it's doubly hard at times.Bitsy_Beans wrote: »Actually I think that's half my problem TBH. It's always easy on paper isn't it?
It's not the food that's made us fat, it's our mindsets.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I think that's why I need to constantly re-read books like Beyond Chocolate and Breaking Free from Emotional Eating - need reminding on a regular basis
I find it too easy to be distracted because of young kids. I mean I know I am meant to savour my food but have you ever tried that with young kids......."mummy can I have a drink" "I don't want this" etc etc and chivvying I have to do to get my eldest to eat sometimes - when I do get chance to sit and enjoy what I am eating.
On the other hand it's entirely my fault that sometimes I choose to overeat - loneliness, boredom, passing the time - I mean I can't read a book whilst looking after kids but at least I can eat:o

Morning :hello:
Well, hubby decided to discharge himself from hospital yesterday afternoon after his scan was cancelledHe'd been nil by mouth since after dinner on Thursday, just in case he needed an op after his scan, so he was tired & hungry & fed up!! Hosp couldn't say when his scan would be re-arranged as they only have a skeleton staff over the weekend so he decided he'd had enough & came home!! Don't know what's going to happen now, he's not in pain (certainly not bad enough to be in hospital all weekend) but he's not 100% ok either. Just have to wait & see I suppose.
Anyway, I drank far too much wine last night (it's the stress!! :rotfl:) so feeling a bit hungover this morning
I really, really need to get a grip with my eating though. I agree totally with what's been written about mindset, comfort-eating etc. I definitely eat more, especially carp, when I'm stressed, upset, feeling low etc etc. I just need to get myself out of the rut I've been in for the last few weeksI've put about 8lbs on?? I look awful & feel bloated, I've got triple muffin top & I'm busting out of my jeans
Aaaarrrgggghhhhhhhhhhh!!
I have a party coming up next month & I also really, really need a holiday. I know I'll cry-off from going to the party if I'm still like this &, if we ever do get a holiday booked, I'll be miserable as sin because I'll be fat & frumpy & wearing the same old fat clothes I always wearAaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh again!! :rotfl:

Well that's rubbish. I know we're lucky to have an NHS at all in this country but sometimes their 'service' is atrocious. Hubby must be pretty fed up.
As for the party...force yourself to go no matter what. If you have a couch lifestyle, you will have a couch body to suit. If you get yourself out there a bit, it will help with your determination to look and feel better.
Now get off my couch and pay me £10 please. :rotfl:
Well I was starving this morning so made an omelette and some bacon. I burnt the lot under the grill though so it's now all in the bin. Can't be @ssed making another lot now and the hunger has passed so I probably just wont bother.
Better go clean I suppose. See you all later.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I think this is why the Paul McKenna system is good, it changes how you think about food. It worked for me previously and i sat around a consistent 8st 10 for about 2 years.
Then i decided i wanted to lose about half a stone before i went on holiday and started low carbing, i'm now over 10 stone as i yo yo'd in and out of low carb, over eating when i wasnt low carbing and i think my body may have rebelled a little at the craziness:o
I'm now using the Paul McKenna system again and feel a lot more relaxed around food. Will let you know how i get on:DThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
