    Slept much better.

Joyfull - Thanks for the website link. Those ladies look amazing. I think I will persevere and try and grow my hair, I can always have it cut if I don't like it. I agree with the ladies on that site - my hair is in a much better condition since I stopped colouring it. Mind you, I was colouring it myself so I was probably doing it wrong.

londonsurrey - totally agree with you on the posture thing. I am working with my physio to improve mine and I do try very hard to remember. I have the beginnings of what could be a "widow's hump" if I'm not careful. I get a lot of neck pain and I have some exercises to keep the muscles a bit looser.

I used to work with a lovely girl way back when, who although she wasn't particularly pretty in the accepted sense, she was a real head turner. She had a fantastic curvy shape and the most fabulous posture. She exercised regularly (this was in the late seventies when Jane Fonda was teaching us all about the benefits of exercise). I think her posture showed her lovely curves to perfection. Even when she got older and put on weight she still maintained her tall and graceful carriage and carried on turning heads.

I understand that dancing improves posture (I can always spot the ex ballet dancer). Once I've lost some weight, am a bit fitter and no longer resemble such a baby elephant, I am hoping to join a dance class. I love dancing anyway and although I haven't done it for a while I often used to prance around the kitchen pretending to be Madonna or Tina Turner (only when no one was looking of course).

    Anyway - progress report

    Exercise Bike - 2.25 kms (prev 2kms)
    Yoga - 10 minutes
Swiss Ball & Hand weights - 10 minutes (Bingo Wings!!)
    (No prancing today)

Todays Beauty Treatment - Mini Manicure

Joyfull - Agree about the smiling bit. Which reminds me of a dreadfully sexist joke I once heard.

Definition of an attractive woman - Ugly as sin but smiles a lot. (Ouch)

Regarding number 1, although this is true, it's fare too basic a statement. Don't be fooled into thinking all calories are equal. They are not. When you eat is also extremely important. Do not eat close to your bedtime. Studie on mice eating late have shown they put on weight.

Regarding number 7, I don't agree with this. That is an excesive amount of carbs and if you're cutting out pastas, bread, potatoes for the short term, that is a hell of a lot of fiborous veg to eat. Aim for more protein.

plenty of research contradicting that as well, a lot of carbs at night upset sleep hormones thou

only excessive if your on a fad diet like atkins, which is all but unsustainable for the long term, its not that many carbs especially if you focus them early in the day, it certainly does not stop me going into ketosis every day when i exercise.

I am looking at permanent lifestyle change which is sustainable, which what I am doing is

I was in a similar situation to you, and also need to loose around 5 stone at the start of my weight loss, so far I've managed to loose around 2 stone since October.

Done it by eating better, cutting the crap out and going to the gym a few times a week or swimming.

Also might be an idea to keep a track of what your eating by writing it down.

On the subject of a personal trainer a few pages back...I got one last year to help with my fitness for the Police, really helped, mainly because I had paid so had a reason to go. Can be expensive though.
What is pi? Where did it come from?

    Hello again,
Well after I came out of my faint (weighed myself, big mistake!) my morale was really low, but, It gave me another kick up the bum, thank you for the first one radish ;) Yesterday was tough but I managed to keep control. Today I managed some excercise, ate sensibly and feel a lot better about the plan ahead, one day at a time :D
Maman, I have done two sucessful weight loses with SW over the last decade (do they still have red and green days?) This time I feel I want to try and actually change my way of eating rather than 'dieting' and following 'the books'
LL, I like your idea of keeping a diary and even better keeping it on here! So much easier to type than write :o
Joyfull, what beautiful women on that website especially Elizabeth, even after having so many children  My vision of long white/silver hair was nothing like those ladies, thats why I had it cut short!
I like the tail and string idea LS, *says she trying to sit up straight while she types* ;)
Because I am rather top heavy I have always felt :o about getting measured for my bra's, even when I was smaller boobs stayed BIG (boob reduction when I win the lottery) Maybe I should apply for 'ten years younger' Ruthie?
Thanks for the great tips on dry skin, will give them a go.
Keep up the good work LL.
    Carmen x

The best tip I know is to make sure you drink plenty of fluids, central heating can be really dehydrating and dehydration plays havoc with the skin.

    Hey :)

Good luck with the lifestyle/makeover! I'm trying to do exactly the same thing.

I've started a blog (http://starjourneyblog.blogspot.com/) for the same reasons you started the post... maybe if I keep it public I'll be forced to stay with it. I wanted to blog rather than post in the forum as I tend to be verbose (and I like putting in only tediously connected pictures for my own amusement) :D

I've made the mistake of looking at too many healthy eating sites tonight... I've stopped seeing the 'healthy' part of the word, and my tummy is going "Eating? that's a great idea! You've cake downstairs!":rotfl:

Swiss Ball & Hand weights - 10 minutes (Bingo Wings!!)

I went to an excercise class last night (first one!) we did a move to banish bingo wings.

Lean over so your legs are straight (although keep your knees slightly bent, not locked) and your back is straight. Sort-of in a sidey 'L' shape.

Upper arms are level with your back, elbows slightly out.

Lift your lower arms (take a weight (or beans can) if you want!) towards the ceiling, make sure you're not going sideways - aim for up and down - keeping your upper arms still.

Do three and whimper. Repeat until sexy. :rotfl:

Brilliant. It's nice that there's someone out there to counteract all the helpful advice that's been given.

Whadya want me to say to the fat biffers? Something like "why don't the jabbas eat less lard?"

Seriously, do you really think that is helpful? This is the "Diet & Emotional Support" thread - I posted on here for a bit of advice, and end up being called a "fat biffer" and "jabba".

Shame - thought this was a site that might actually help people.:(
