Even though i've been registered on here for ages, this is the first time i've started a thread, so please bear with me if it's in the wrong place or anything....
I've been overweight all my life, and have always just ignored it, and laughed it off. I've recently come to a decision that I want to do something about it, and am fully committed to achieving a large weight loss in the next year (minimum of 5 stone in the next 18 months....).
So, I've made this committment, but how do I achieve it? My problem has always been willpower - I automatically assume that anything I try and do won't work, so I never really try. However, this is different, and I have convinced myself that I can do this.
I've bought an exercise bike for home, and do 15mins per night. I also have joined a gym, and try to get there twice a week (although I don't really know what to do there - I just do 15 mins on a jogging machine, and 15 mins on a rowing thing...). My diet isn't that bad - I don't snack between meals, and tend to eat sensibly.
Am I doing the right things? Can anyone suggest anything else I could do to help? Are Weightwatchers / Slimming World worth the money (the thought of being weighed in front of loads of people terrifies me....).
Really, any help (or supportive comments) are most welcomed...
Thanks
Kev.
Knock the cake on the head?I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven0 -

7) Try to get a balanced intake of around 33% protein / 33% fat / 33% carbs
Regarding number 1, although this is true, it's fare too basic a statement. Don't be fooled into thinking all calories are equal. They are not. When you eat is also extremely important. Do not eat close to your bedtime. Studie on mice eating late have shown they put on weight.
Regarding number 7, I don't agree with this. That is an excesive amount of carbs and if you're cutting out pastas, bread, potatoes for the short term, that is a hell of a lot of fiborous veg to eat. Aim for more protein.0 -

So - Protein foods are the main focus. Other than Eggs & Cheese, what are the best ones to incorporate into a daily diet? Remember - no nuts or caffeine :-)
