I started a thread about my journey to stop dieting and have had that thread closed and merged with a thread about dieting. No offense to anyone on here but I am quite annoyed that this has happened. Am I wrong? Can I do anything about it?0

I didn't think they should have merged ur thread either if thats any help?0

Thank you. I'mjust trying so hard to move away from dieting (which has been the bain of my life for years). I don't want to be reading about other people's diets as I'm trying to get out of that way of thinking. Lifewise I know how hard people try to lose weight and I don't want to be a problem for those that are on here trying to diet - each to their own.
Can I be moved back please board moderator?

This is a privately owned money saving site not a weight loss site, their house their rules I am afraid and they dont want 100s of individual diet threads0 -
I agree with you about trying to stop dieting Fee.

Dieting is a waste of time, even the governments own figures show 98% of them fail in the first two years
It has to be a lifestyle change and that has to be permanent and I am afraid we have to re-educate ourselves about how to eat properly, this is where nearly all systems fail they either use some fad way of eating or even worse a pill.
But then worst are all are these super dangerous meal replacement systems which should be outlawed. The first problem is people say they want to loose weight, what they actually want to do is loose fat, how much you weigh is irrelevant, your BMI is irrelevant, what is important is that your % of body fat is in a healthy range. Very low calorie diets (most meal replacement diets) cause the body to start metabolising muscle and internal organs (which in extreme cases can be fatal) so you end up at your goal weight but still have a high % of fat having lost a good % of your lean muscle mass which means your metabolic rate is greatly reduced so you will gain weight even faster, and of course the biggest sin with these types of diets you have learnt nothing about healthy eating so its very easy to go back to old habits. bad bad bad ...
loosing weight is not as hard as people think, it does take some self control but it is not a battle of iron will every hour of every day, people make it harder by following this nonsense low fat high carb diet plan that is still being pushed by many.
If you get your insulin levels under control you all but eliminate hunger if you stick to a sensible calorific intake (1200+ for women 1500+ for men) eat whole foods where you can and reduce your carb intake to 33% of your daily food making sure they are low GI carbs your insulin levels will level out after 2-3 weeks removing most hunger pangs (if you do get any it will be real hunger). Try to get 33% of your calories from healthy fats and oils such as rapeseed oil, seeds and nuts.
You can also do a lot to help stop muscle loss, ironically you need to eat to loose weight, you need to keep your metabolism fired up to stop it going into starvation mode, so not dropping your cals to low and if you can eat every 3-4 hours. The best two things you can do is to make sure you have some lean protein with every meal (aim for 33% of your diet to be protein) and to do 3 resistance type 30 min exercise sessions a week such as yoga, pilates, resistance bands, light weights etc
I am on week 43 now and I probably have true hunger once a fortnight now and when I do get it I have a granola (low GI) bar. I did this last night and after and hour my glucose levels where 4.9 which is near perfect. More importantly after 43 weeks and a pretty substantial weight loss I have lost zero % lean muscle mass which is crucial, and there's nothing special about me, my will power is just as weak as every other over weight person, I have tried every one of the fad diets but once I had worked out that getting insulin levels under control was the Key it became very natural and hardly a struggle.
Oh and the nasty bit for most people, you need to avoid caffeine it screws your blood sugar levels up ..0 -

With respect, the point I was making is that I am NOT on a diet. In fact I am now making the choice to move away from dieting completely and develop a healthier attitude towards food, my body, self-esteem etc.
I don't want to be on a thread about dieting when I am trying to get away from that mentality.

I like the idea of changing your lifestyle Fee82 and I agree that this is what is all about really. I am on a diet to shed some weight quickly and kickstart my healthy new lifestyle. I find that the celebrity slim does fit into my life so it is a good choice for me. I have been running regularly and it has also made me rethink my eating habits. Healthy evening meals for all the family are now a top priority also and I feel great!!0

As i pointed out in my other thread dieting does not work it has to be a permanent lifestyle choice so its great that you wish to do this, but even so your journey would still be classed as a diet (eating mcdonalds and pizza is a diet).
Regardless as I pointed out its not allowed here, this is a private site and they are can enforce any rules that they like.
If you wish to log your journey with out distraction then all I could suggest is to setup a specific face book page for it or a blogging site or even twitter.
And I am in the same boat as you, I would have loved to have had my own thread to log my epic journey but its not allowed0
