Best of luck to you:) As an inspiration my friend has just gone from a size 28 which was getting tight, to a size 12, yes its taken a year or so and yes she did have a gastric band fitted, but she now loves exercise, is much much happier and has a great social life because she actually wants to leave the house now:T Unfortunately it would appear that she has passed on her hang ups about food and bad habits to her kids which they are now addressing as a family, so good on you for recognising there is a potential problem and trying to do something about it, once again good luck:)

The NHS via your Dr apparently have a support program to help you.

I promise you this, if you can go 2 weeks without eating processed food, pies, sausages, crisps, snacks, pizza, bread, cola, choccy, sweets and stick to natural whole foods, lean proteins and low GI whole grain cereals etc (wheatabix / oatibix etc) you will detox yourself and feel 10 times better at the end.

This is what i'm currently doing to try and feel better mentally and physically, i'm on week 2 but still feel so tired at times...not sure i'm getting the right balance of everything as i'm veggie too.

My health before was not 100% but i am seeing energy bursts like i've not had for years and feel miles better since stopping caffeine but it made me ill though giving it up...headaches, grumpy and really bad hip and back pain :(

I am still craving everything i have given up and am tempted to cave in lots :D but i haven't.

I wasn't a process food addict before and was quite healthy just not this strict. The Carol Vorderman books are full of dead easy healthy recipes though and she has meal plans.

Thank you to both of you.
I know that this is going to be a long term thing but then i have spent years trying short term fixes that have never worked. I'm still young and I don't want this to be the issue that dominates my life. I see how much my Mum has struggled and continues to do so now in her 50's and I just don't want the same.
Once the kids are in bed I'll try to post more about where I am now and the direction I want to be heading in and the different thoughts in my head.
Support along the way will always be welcome and I apologise in advance for being self-indulgent.

I think this is fantastic! I will be following you every step of the way. I have always wanted to do something similar and start my own diary as I am in a similar position. Well done you :)

Kids are in bed at last!

Right, the point of this journey is that I want to get to a place in my life where I eat when I am hungry, I eat whatever my body is telling me I want and I stop when I'm full. I want to enjoy my food, savour every bite but not feel like I have to eat everything on my plate. I want to appreciate my body and feel confident in my skin. I want to recognise and deal with my emotions instead of self-medicating with food.

Following the Beyond Chococlate principles (because I have no idea how else to start!) I am now allowing myself to eat whatever I want. I'm going to try to eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full but inially I'm mostly going to just to try to recognise what is going on and record it on here. Think of this as my observation week!

Number one rule though is to be kind to myself... even if I have just eaten a whole pack of biscuits!
