I am finding the MPD app quite frustrating in that the food I eat seems rarely to be listed in the directory. I am constantly astonished when you search for something in the directory (like 'leek' or 'orange', thinking you'll just get calories in raw leek or an orange) and you get hundreds of fast food/processed stuff popping up. And what's with all the babyfood that's listed???! Who eats that?! It's also American so there are few brand-names in there that are common over here. I find I have to go to the internet to find calories of lots of things and then create new items to store in the directory.

Also it's very time consuming if you cook from scratch, which I do every night. Trying to figure out the calories for my chicken noodle soup last night almost drove me insane!

There was a recent diet craze in the US for losing weight by eating baby food, that's probably why that's on there. Unfortunately most of these things seem to come from the US, maybe there's a gap in the market for some enterprising developer?

if you have the PC version you can remove great chunks of the database and then sync it to your phone

i tend to add the food myself, it took a little time to start with but there all in now, maybe one or two new ones a month

Hmmm. I work on mac, I wonder if it's compatible?

Mostly I find that I just end up guessing what calories are in a meal, which is not terribly helpful really. But also I kind of know when I'm being OTT with my eating, and I'm not really trying to lose at the moment, just maintain. But the app is still helpful for that.

I think you may have to ask them, Most mac users I know run windows virtually for the odd bits n pieces.
  • Thanks to crazystace - I haven't heard of celebrity slim before so that wasn't on my list of replacement meals to try. I've just placed an order and will try these out too as they sound quite different flavours that the others don't do.
  • I'm impressed with all this technology, thought I was quite good just getting on the forums. Anyway, I'm hoping the meal replacements should make things easier to keep track of and then I just need to work out the evening meal. I've got some nice healthy recipes lined up.
  • I did this one a while back and I did lose a bit of weight but I got so bored with eating the same bowl of cereal the whole time that I stopped after a couple of weeks. I've just started on celebrity slim meal replacement diet a few days ago as seems to offer the same reassurance in terms of calorie and fat intake but with much more variety. Don't think I'll get bored of these as there's loads of different flavours.
  • Hi
I have had some success doing the Cambridge diet in the past and I felt really good when I was on the plan. I would love to back on it but it is the cost which makes it a no go for me. Does any one know of a cheaper alternative? Not slim fast etc as that diet does not get you into ketosis. It would need to be VLC & low carb. I have thought about the protein powders you can get in health food shops but wondered if anyone has tried something like that?
