Yeah, eric, it is the BMR. Still depressing though. I do walk a couple of kilometres a day plus yoga, running and swimming so you'd have thought I'd have already built up my muscle mass a bit. Particularly with the yoga which can really challenge your muscles with some of the balances we do.
Weirdly they calculated my 'ideal' ratios of fat, carbs and protein, which came out at 15% fat, 26% protein and 59% carbs. Seems kinda high on the carbs and low on the fat to me. What do you think?0 -

sounds like BS to me as there's no different kind of people that need different proportions, sounds similar to the blood group diet nonsense, there arnt subspecies of humans, well theres no evidence to support it anyway

Hello all. Bloody awful metabolic rate test - my basic rate is 1160. That's 40 calories less than most diets tell you to aim at, and that's what I have to eat to maintain! How am I ever going to manage that? The doctor did say that I would probably struggle and that the key is more exercise. Bah and crap. How depressing.
Bah and crap indeed, i have more than that for breakfast
Joking aside.. very depressing news :doh:0 -

Have been reading but not posting

HI all,
Not lost any weight today but have stuck to my plan rigourously ... Had minetrone soup for lunch 2 apples a tangerine and for tea some chilli ( small portion) no rice or bread ( OH had 2 sticks of garlic bread - i had to go in the other room!!)
I've been for my 30 min walk and than means i have walked everyday sun mon tue wed and thurs for 30 mins which is the longest i've stuck at anything for years.. How pathetic... but at least i have kept to it this week.
Tomorrow i'm off work and going to go to the gym. My plan is to walk there and then swim ( i haven't visited to the gym since august)
I haven't done very well with drinking water today.. will be able to improve on that tomorrow as not in work.
Does anyone know anything about what excersize woudl be best for me? I'm planning to keep doing the walkign for 30 mins a day but wondered about doing something a bt more vigourous however i can't run as even the strongest of sports bras doesn't help me be comfortable and the pressure on my knees is too great. I can't row because of my back.. Any ideas of something that will help with my upper body too as walking i guess is all my legs.
Sarah.. seems like youre doing an amazing job with all the excersize you do, 1160 calories doesn't seem much..poor you.
disappointed today not to have gone down but i'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow ...Baby due 4th May 2013

*Yawn*. Up at an obscene time today, very tired. OH is on back shift and wakes me up when he comes to bed. I think he openes the door loudly deliberately so I wake up and stop snoring and that way he's got a fighting chance of falling asleep before I start again. 2 hours later, he woke me up going to the toilet. I've been awake since just before 5am. *sob*
I'm always starving when I've not had enough sleep. Guess today is going to be hard.
See you all later. *waves*Herman - MP for all!0 -

swimming is the best if you have any joint issues and it will work your core and upper body, or you could try a swiss ball or resistance bands both will do core and upper body and allow you to work at your own level and do not stress joints0
