Well an interesting unintended experiment yesterday
as I may have mentioned I am trying to get my food bill down as I have been eating a lot of very expensive lean protein. So far we have reduced it by £70 a week !! by swapping to lean pork medallion, basics salmon (tastes the same as normal salmon) and getting the fresh tuna steak off cuts, all of which work out at £2 a less for about 200g of lean protein per meal :jOh and the creation of the protibix for breakfast has saved me £25 a week as well
I thought I would try some cheaper soups for lunch as opposed to my expensive tuna (£1.25 a tinbut its very good quality and 140g drained
)
So I had a big soup on sunday for lunch and from that point on I was super mega thirsty, I drank 3 times what I would normally (and i drink 3l+ a day anyway), Yesterday I had lost no weight and I had horrid IBS (first time in months) and felt crap and bloated all day.
I decided this morning to weigh myself again (and break my most cardinal rule) as I was feeling so crap yesterday and lo and behold i dropped 3lbs in one day!!!
So it just goes to show my body hates processed food with all its additives, preservatives and huge amounts of salt ....
never again0 -
Hmmm very interesting eric.. didnt it taste salty though?
Lots of processed food taste super salty to me especially pkt ham.. yuk.
I am too old for diy these days too, the thought of it is bad enough let alone getting up a ladder and sweating buckets, which happened last time i put up a blind, i do have lots of painting to do though and unfortunately will have to be the one doing it
Was so hot and sunny yesterday (i was in work til 7pm) and has been p*ssing down today ( my day off) so one is not amused :mad:0 -
yep it tasted salty, but then anything with salt does as i dont add it to anything0

Sunny....empathise with the stiff joints. :rotfl:I still feel like I'm a sweet young thing but my body tells me differently.
Thats exactly how i am, raring to go but my bod says noEric_Pisch wrote: »Well an interesting unintended experiment yesterday

Have you tried making your own soups? I started doing this a couple of years ago and they are lovely, no bloat afterwards and i never add salt.
If you are cutting the shopping bill why not try the tuna chunks instead, they are very similar to the steaks but far cheaper. I usually stock up when they are on offer, my record was around 80 tins in at any one timeHmmm very interesting eric.. didnt it taste salty though?

Everything processed tastes really salty to me too, i look back to the days when i even used to add salt at the table and shudder

Don`t really mind painting, it can be quite theraputic but have to be careful as DH has developed a thing for solvents and the slightest whiff can have him passing out  not sure why as he never used to be like this. I`ve tried some of the low odour products but they never seem to give results that are as good.
Morning peeps
right spag bol is almost cooked, made mostly with home grown ingredients so will cool that off ready for tomorrow. Tea tonight will be chilli with cauli rice for me and normal for DH, woofaloes are walked and snoozing away happily and i`m off to the shops to see if i can find the huge boxes of persil that are supposed to be on offer in Sainsbugs.
Have a good day peeps!

Morning :hello:
What a difference a day makes, I'm in a baaaaaaad mood this morningMy fridge-freezer decided to break down last night so woke up to soggy half & fully defrosted stuff with water all over the utility floor!! And hubby is not well again, probably to do with his appendix but caused by his over-indulgence of alcohol for the last few days  And did I mention I have PMT?!:rotfl:
So my menu will be a bit weird & wonderful today as I try to use up what was in the freezer but I'll still make sure it's all SW friendly.
Hope everyone has a good day today :wave:0 -

Btw, men and machines are both on a par with each other in terms of usefulness. They potter along but break down at the slightest thing.
Hope hubby feels better soon and you sort that f/f out.
My joiner is here working in the kitchen so I'm trying to keep out of the way whilst pretending to be busy at the same time.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I'm thinking more a divorce lawyer!! I'm starting to think hubby is the cause of my PMT!! :rotfl:
Hope hubby feels better soon and you sort that f/f out.
Never mind him, that's self-inflicted!!
The f/f is temporarily sorted - that means I blasted it with a hot hairdryer to get rid of the build-up of ice so the door could shut properly!! Did I mention it's a frost-free f/f?!
Have had to throw all the quorn stuff out, DD1 had icecream for brekkie & sausages & potato wafflesfor lunch, as did hubby. The local cat population got the leftover sausages & I'm just wondering whether to give them the prawns as well as no-one else fancies them?!
Happy days everyone *insert sarcastic smilie*0 -
How the hell did this post end up stuck in the middle of this thread??!!
I don't think I had any wine that night! Did I post in the wrong place or has someone been moving stuff round again??
Oh I get it now, someones confused a thread about "Diet" with another thread about " :eek:DIET:eek:" and moved the whole thread which has been slotted in piece meal. How little they know!
WHADDYA MEAN MUST BE MY AGE??
Time for lunch.............or have I already had my lunch ?:rotfl::rotfl:

Morning peeps
where are you all? I logged on expecting to have a good read but there`s nowt
Had a busy morning and got up nice and early, done some cooking too. We ended up having the spag bol last night instead of the chilli so now we are having chilli tonight, i`ll have it on its own and take it to work in a tub and DH will have his with jackets. I`ve made pizza bases for hubs and a cauli one for me and for dinner i have a small jacket spud which i shall top with tuna. Cottage pie with swede topping has also been finished and i`m knackered
Just got back from walking the houndlets and had 2 small slices of wholemeal toast with a very thin slices of cheese for brekkie. I could do with a nap now but need to iron a couple of shirts for work and then hop in the shower.
Both houndlets are fast asleep in the room and the cat is snoozing on the back of a chair and its lovely and peaceful, don`t much fancy going to work but i`ll drag myself there. Only about 3 weeks to our hols so i need to get organised  I think that the suitcases must be in the loft as i can`t find them anywhere, that means that i shall have to borrow ladders to get them as mine won`t reach. The built in ladders were going to be done this summer but they will have to wait now.
Right i`m off to browse for ten mins before getting the iron out.
Have a good day peeps.

I've been sanding.
I hate sanding.
There's plaster dust everywhere and I'm white.
It makes all my nose hairs look huge and plentiful too.
I wish I wasn't such a fussy biatch. I could have had that room painted ages ago if I would stop looking for any imperfections in the walls. Can't have anything that's going to bug me though....so the sanding continues.
I'm about to have a roll and ham and a cuppa tea. My still bad. :rotfl:
PS....I've got built in loft ladders now.:D
