I have also never managed to make a tomato sauce out of tinned tomatoes cheaper than I can buy it! Basics chopped tomatoes are 33p and needs other stuff adding to it and a bit more work, and a jar of sauce is 36p.
Fair point cost wise, but nutrition wise if you whack in a bit of garlic (optional), chopped onion and a can of tomatoes, a dash of olive oil , tomato paste and dried herbs, seasoning and a touch of sugar you have a nutritionally FAR superior food than your jar of sauce which may contain added water and thickener to bulk it out. With a sauce made this way, you can always freeze portions (if you've got access to a freezer) and you may use less of it to coat your spaghetti because the flavour is more intense.
If you've got a freezer, I'd definitely be cooking for 4 and freezing three portions!0 -
Nice to see you all back
Will it also be a month or [STRIKE]two[/STRIKE] so before you change your sig. Alias?
<runs off and hides>
:rotfl: I've not 'played' for so long that I'd forgotten what my sig actually even referred to.
To be fair though, it's still accurate...I did actually start then...I just never mentioned when I stopped again....restarted.....stopped again ... restarted etc etc.
Sorry daisy....You're good though, t'will come off again.

At least you keep restarting! :T0 -
Oh my...maz is out.....AGAIN.
:rotfl:Some things just don't change.
(Nor does my jealous streak.)
Hi crispy....welcome to the gang.Slimming World has a few followers around these parts, not tried it myself but could be tempted soon. (Well, when I say soon....I really mean in a month or so.
) People do seem to quite like that particular way of eating. I've done WW a while back but wasn't too impressed tbh. Good luck with whichever one you choose.
Well I have a living room of sorts again now. I've had to move 3 wall units (nowt posh lol...Ikea Billy bookcases with glass doors) into the living room for the time being, so the space for the chairs has shrunk considerably. We almost have to touch each other. :eek::D
Beds can also be seen now and bedding is in the tumble dryer as I type...plaster dust gets everywhere.
Just having a cheeky wee pear cider whilst I wait for my fish pie to heat up in the oven. :rotfl:
You all hate me don't you? :rotfl:I eat and I dont care.:D (Right now at least.;))
:rotfl::rotfl: as if.
I am rather sloshed, but still have to check my spelling.. what a loser.0 -
Thanks for that eric
Also, i think men are more determined when it comes to weight loss, most women i know couldn't cope without treats (prob why we fail long term)
That bits in your head im afraid, ladies never used to binge on treats, this eating choccy etc is a new thing, after all what did you do for the millions of years before jelly babies or choccy was invented?0 -

We climbed the cave walls with boredom, bit our nails and generally made our mens lives Hell. Obvious really. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
oh im far from class swot now - i gained weight this week after having a bday so didnt even bother to stay and get the slap on the wrist !!
Woah, I read that as after having a baby, thought there was something you weren't telling us!! :rotfl:
Morning peeps,
Feeling much less snotty today (apologies to those eating their breakfast!!)
Got weighed & I've lost a couple of those [STRIKE]pigging out[/STRIKE] holiday lbs, phew!! There's nothing like the thought of being officially weighed at SW to get you back on track!! Alias & mazzers, please take note!!:rotfl:
Think I'll be having chilli today - for the 4th day runningI really do love it but I will vary my meals more after I've been shopping tomorrow. Made rosemary potato wedges to go with it last night using just 1tsp of oil instead of the 2tbsp I used to use & they were gorgeous, not dry at all, preferred them to the 'official' SW chips.
Hope everyone doing ok today, no hangovers etc :wave:0 -

The reason why we do it.
Now we have chocolate and jelly babies....we just do it because we can. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
Thanks for the link to the BMR calculator, Eric - found it really interesting.
I think your approach to weight loss is the same as mine, just a lot more disciplined. My weight loss this year has been about 26 pounds - I'd have hit goal months ago if I had as much willpower as you.
Got very close to goal, then my weight kept creeping up, thankfully it's started going back down again and I'm back to within a couple of pounds of my goal weight. For some reason, the last few pounds are the hardest to shift.
I really miss binging on chocolate. I think I can continue to live without crisps ok - but I've cut out my daily treat of maltesers and I'm not sure this is sustainable. I've mastered the art of the takeaway though - I know what/how much I can eat without putting on weight.
I think I'm going to have to reintroduce chocolate into my regular diet - I'm a bit crabby without it!0
