Thats the thing that tests me, eating out.
As you said, not much out there thats healthy.. apart from salad.
I usually end up having a treat and it knocks me off the wagon (the wagon is miles away atm)
So well done to you
i just didn't want to eat anything bad tbh, i would rather go without than pollute myself0 -
Eric, you really are an inspiration, you have done brilliantly this year!0

Hello peeps :hello:
Feeling oh so lousy todayI have a proper stinker of a cold now, complete with red nose
Hope it doesn't hang around for too long. I don't get colds very often but when I do they're usually humdingers!!
So, weighed myself this morning & I've put on nearly 4lbsOops. Started back on slimming world today & have been very good so far. Made a lovely lunch earlier (pasta, cheese triangles melted through, red onion, salmon & black pepper) I could taste it a bit but my sense of taste has gone awol so it wasn't as strong-tasting to me as it should have been, still nice though.
Sunny, I should have said the chilli is SW-friendly, not a SW recipe as it's actually out of the Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food cookbook & I just adapt/add/omit stuff to suit SW (but the spices etc are all the same), tis really nice & tasty http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/chefs/jamie-oliver/chilli-con-carne-recipe_p_1.html
Suppose I should start making mine now & put the baked spuds in the oven.

oh
im not sure how to put it down easier, ill have a go at bullet pointing some rules
1) Keep a food diary, other wise you are just guessing what your intake is.
Free Food Diary Here
Awesome Iphone Food + Exercise Diary
2) Your daily calorie intake should be your BMR + Any Exercise you do - 250-500 cals a day
Calc your BMR here
Calc your Exercise here
3) Do not skip meals, try to eat regularly over a day. Where you can use whole foods. Try to split your daily intake (calories) into thirds, 33% lean protein, 33% healthy fats and oils, 33% carbs/fruit/veg. Try to make sure any carbs you eat are low GI. Eat the foods you enjoy that fall into the above categories. You should not be hungry.
4) Get moving, even if its only 3 - 5 30 min walks a week. Start of slowly and build up little by little over time.
5) Set a realistic goal and a time frame and try to stick to it. "treats" are just self defeating imo, alcohol whilst fun is just empty calories. Treats and Alcohol are for when you are in maintenance (at goal) IMO.
6) Only weigh yourself once a week and do not get worried if your losses fluctuate, the body is not a machine and it does weird things. If you stop losing weight reduce your daily intake by 100 cals. Tweak it week by week.0 -
OO Eric,
thanks for posting that info, i like the look of the calculators and i`ll put them to good use.:D
Was norty last nightit was ten thirty before i managed to sit down properly and we ended up with a takeaway as i was too tired to make anything.
Tonight will be better as we shall be having garlic chicken and SW chips - maybe with beans - in fact the chips will probably have some seasoning on so it should be a tasty meal. I`ve other bits and bobs on standby just in case DH fancies something else instead as i harvested loads of spuds from the garden and there are plenty of veggies out there too.
Freezer defrosting time today, its stood standing right in the middle of the kitchen so we`ve decided to defrost it and then put all the food back in and shove it in a corner in the spare bedroom upstairs. This to me doesn`t seem rightdoes anyone else have a freezer in their spare bedroom? There`s nowhere else to put it through so hope we can get the thing upstairs as its s bit on the large side.
Right i`ve had two cups of tea and i need to get a move on, i shall be making liver and bacon pate today and quite possibly some chicken soup
Have good days peeps!

We used to, but only, like you, because there was nowhere else for it to go. It always felt wrong having it there.
Still, it did it's job, and was bearable for a time.
When we got a bigger shed, we stuck it in there. No 'mishaps' since0 -

Glad its not just me then
Think that we shall keep it until after Christmas and then freecycle it and get a smaller one. I`m worried about power cuts and leaks too.
Eventually i think that we shall get used to having the fridge freezer instead of a huge fridge and freezer but i`ve been spoilt by having as much freezer space as i`ve needed but have sacrificed that by having more cupboards, i know that it makes sense to do this but i need to get my head around it
The weather for soups and stews is on the way and i`ve always been a big winter batch cook and freeze fan so i need a good slap to get me out of the habit to a certain extent.
On the plus side the soups and stews can be extremely diet friendly as long as i don`t eat half a loaf with them like i used to but now that i`m adjusted to eating smaller portions that shouldn`t be an issue.
Think that i shall make some nice soft soup rolls and freeze those too then i can ration myself to just one per day at lunchtime
Liver and bacon pate mixture is in the slowcooker as i type, i`m going to blend it with extra tomatoes to get a spreadable consistency. I`ve always used tons of butter in the past which was great for low carb but no good for my more SW way of eating. Think that i may make a lentil based one too for green days to go with the lentil and red pepper soup that i`m making later. The chicken and mushroom soup will be for red days - see i`m getting into the SW way of thinking now too
I automatically still think low carb but am managing to stop myself now and rethink, i thought that i would have lost the habit by now but its so ingrained into my head that i automatically think that way
I`m liking Erics way of doing things, sounds really good. My problem is working out the percentages of carb/fat/protein, i make lots of home made stuff and then stare at it and don`t know where to startSounds thick i know but thats how bad i am
