I am not on a diet as such, but have split up with my husband a few months ago, and have lost a good bit of weight.
The funny thing is that I am not trying to lose weight, as wasnt really that big, a size 12-14.
But because I am not cooking him big great !!!! off dinners, and of course I would sit down and eat practically eat just as much as him, plus the crisps, biscuits, desserts on sunday etc.
I could not believe it when I got weighed this morning, as usually I am scared to weigh myself, but have lost 12 pounds
I knew my clothes were getting loose, and I havent got four boobs now in the 1 bra, lol.
All I have done is work hard, clearing stuff out at home, garden decorating etc, plus am not eating all the krap now.
I still have my 2.5 sugers in my tea, and I drink about 6-8 mugs a day, as I do love my tea, but am eating smaller portions, more salads, no chips, sometimes a jacket potato, plus I started on a protein drink which I take everyday with skimmed milk, and bananas, I do like my bananas
If I carry on losing and lose another 5-7 pounds, it will be the lightest I have been for approx 20 years.
TBH, I am eating the right stuff, I have gone mad on the 5 bean thingy in a tin, I love them, never had them when I was with him, but I can do so much with the beans, and they are lovely.
I know avacodos are quite fattening, but I could eat them all day, and sometimes I indulge and have a couple.
I now know I was definately eating the wrong things, and too much of the wrong things lol0 -
Yeah, the alcohol thing is frightening.
I'm feeling a bit glum. I've only lost 1 lb in the past two weeks - that's freaking expensive pound. I want to know why it's so slow. I have had two glasses of wine in two weeks, which I just can't see as being the cause, and if it is, what hope is there for me once I'm trying to maintain? I could neck two glasses of wine without blinking. Gah.
On a brighter note, am going to be getting an iphone this week, MSE style. A guy at work is upgrading to iphone 4 and is selling me his 3GS for the same money he'd get from 02 (£210). Then I'm going to use a £10 a month sim only plan from T mobile, which is what I pay now with Virgin. Very exciting!
i can not recommend impd enough, its a big part behind my 123lb loss so far
http://www.vidaone.com/impd.htm0 -
Wow, thanks Eric. I was wondering how you were measuring everything so specifically! Is it a free app? I'll certainly need that when I go on to maintenance and have to watch all my calories/fat/protein ratio.
In keeping with the forum etiquette, I have lost a pound following my moan yesterday. So that's good. I have now got two pounds until goal (well, on my scales. On theirs, probably three). Citing!0 -
jakem, well done! Looks like it's 'your' time now, make the most of it.
sarah, you're so close to your target, you've done really well. :T
Piddling rain here today, got to go out this morning so will be on the go for most of the day in the wet. Bum.
Feeling really p*ssed off today. Watched The Cove last night and cant get those poor dolphins out of my mind. Also read this morning about a company making a terrified donkey parasail. I'm angry, wound up and feel impotent to do anything to help. We're a disgusting race really.Probably just as well I'm off out, it'll take my mind off it.
Have a good day all.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Can I be impressed that my size 14 combats keep trying to escape. I've tied the little bit of thing together to keep them up, and still they fall!
You can be impressed if I can be jealous!!
Seriously, well done elfen, you should be proud of yourself!! :TQUOTE]Mystery-Lover wrote: »daisy & sweet - it sounds like a secret club with it's own code not a diet lol!! :rotfl:
Lol, it does!! I do find the 'codes' confusing but I'm starting to get my head around themI suppose it's like when we say lcing or icing for low-carbing, people not in the know must get mighty confused as well!! :rotfl:
sweet......'tis like 'a day in the life of' :rotfl: methinks you and this SW malarky could be our entertainment for a while.(But I still wish you loads of luck with it.)
Thank you. I think??:rotfl:
Morning all :hello:
Well, I do think I'm finally beginning to 'get' SWI was on the SW thread, minimins site & the SW website for what seemed like hours last night
Have completed my food diary & think I've got things in the right place, suppose I'll find out on Monday if I haven't.
I'm going to try & not weigh at home at all this week  This is a BIG thing for me as I'm usually jumping on the scales every morningI just think I should try & trust the SW woe & hopefully (I'd bl00dy better) see results at my weekly class. Might have to take the batteries out of the bathroom scales though, just in case I'm tempted to sneak a peek
Going to mosey on over to the SW thread now, I need to ask how to make a SW fishpie. I usually follow a Jamie Oliver recipe using creme fraiche but I think that's too high in syns so I might have to use fat-free plain fromage fraise instead?? Anyone on here know?? I always thought fromage-fraise was for sweet dishes but I've seen it used in a couple of savoury recipes on the SW website
Anyway, hope everyone doing ok today.
alias, you shouldn't watch/read things like that, I know what programme/article you mean & it was very upsetting (I read but didn't watch). Try & keep busy with other things & put it out of your mind :kisses3:
jakem, good luck with your new life & well done on the weight loss0 -
Get me. I did 45 mins on the Wii Fit last night. I had the urge to do some exercise. This you realise is almost unheard of. Is there something in the water?!!!!
Elfen - well done on your loss
Alias - I read about the Donkey thing too. I find it quite upsetting that people actually look at and treat animals as such disposable creatures. Mind you this applies to some humans too, in Africa for instance. Quite depressing really xx
Jakem - Sorry to hear about your marriage but well done on the weightloss xxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Morning peeps
Elfen/Jakem/Sarah - Well done all of you :j i love reading about everyones losses
I got weighed this morning and i`ve lost another 3lb :j i`m really pleased cos i`m doing a kind of mixture of the diets atm and i wasn`t sure whether or not i could have the best of both worlds and still lose but so far so good so i`m keeping my fingers crossed. I`m trying to have a lc brekkie and lc dinner and a tea with some carbs in. Snacks are also lc and i think that i`m keeping my carb count just low enough to make a difference.
Alias - I can`t read or watch anything that involves cruelty to animals, it affects me for days and i wholeheatedly agree about how disgusting some people are. When DH and i used to help out with the rescue centres it fair near broke my heart, it certainly changed my life.
So much of the suffering isn`t just ignorance its terrifying to see what people do to animals on purpose. I think what they do to animals should be done to them, if i ever got hold of any of them i`d do something unspeakable.
Anyway, i`ll shove that to the back of my mind for now or i might explode
Brekkie was scramblies and mushrooms - just eaten it and dropped a lump off the plate and the dog snaffled it :rotfl:
Dinner will be cheese and salami and tea is tuna salad, there is a small amount of pasta in the salad and i`m finding that so far i can eat this without clapping on any of the naughty pounds.
I ran out of voddie last night so i`ve nothing to have a tipple of when i get home from work apart from wine which i know will definitely add to my weight. May have half a glass when i have my few squares of choccy but if i`m really tired which i`m expecting to be then i might just go to bed.
Off for a quick browse before work.
Have good days everyone
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning folks. There's an air of success around here <sniff sniff> Well done! :T
Had another lovely walk this morning with puppy chops: through some trees and fields, along a river where he had a little splash around. I did some 'funny walking' when I felt no-one was around. I've been doing this the last few of days - stretching whilst walking, excercising arms, tightening pelvic area, even walking sideways a little! lol. I think I'm feeling better for it, and even did a Daily Mail Pilates DVD I've had lying around for a while yesterday!
Didn't fancy salad for lunch again today, so stuffed it in a wholemeal pitta. Was scrumptious! I eat very little carbs. these days (compared to what I used to eat, not compared to you lot! ), so feel like I've had loads today, since I had a slice of stoneground toast this morning!
We had liver, onions, mushrooms, mixed veg. and gravy last night. I got away with just giving the boys (including OH) 1 potato waffle with theirs, so they're lcing a bit too hehe. I'm aiming to have us all on a fairly low GI diet. Must start baking though, and coming up with some healthier versions of the little cakes/biscuits they usually have with milk for their pudding.
Feeling better in myself too. Rushing around sorting car out the last couple of days. Normally I'd just let OH sort it out. I'll jump in the car and pop out for something.. wouldn't do that a few weeks ago; would just put it off..
TOTM has been a vast improvement on recent months too! Seemed to be getting increasingly more painful and heavy. Considerably less of both this time, which HAS to be down to eating better/healthier, and walking further/faster..0 -

They are soooo quick aren't they, I bet they'd be brilliant at a game of Snap!! :rotfl:
Bitsy, good on you for doing the wii fit, I seem to have 'forgotten' about doing thatI must start doing it again, the daft thing is I really like doing it, so why do I 'forget'?!
Well done on the 3lbs off, Sunny :j
hanno, that's good news about TOTM, I think you're probably right to credit your new lifestyle with improving things. You sound a lot more positive as well0
