Are people saying that a new year has started, even though the cards were put into circulation in July?
Better than that, I can't remember the T&Cs but it looks as though they give cashback every four months (paid in Aug & Dec so far).

I don't think that necessarily means that the yearly quota also gets reset every 4 months.

I use M Money and now I know why I was manually inputting GE transactions ( and cursing about lack of online/ download facility )!!
Have spent a couple of minutes analysing and realise that although I have spent well above £5k in total on the card, nowhere near this much has been on food and petrol. So regardless of when the GE year starts, I had better go back to buying fuel and food with this card again.
  • Hi All,

But of an odd one here, all my shopping on the GE Money card is in supermarkets now and my latest statement correctly shows everthing in green with 3% cashback.

For some reason though, the transactions made at Tesco and Asda are all marked with one *, yet for some reason the two at Morrisons with two **

The only references to asterisks on the statement I can see regards the notes about and interest and seeing as the card has been cleared entirely every month on DD since I've had it, it can't be that!

Don't suppose its all that important, I'm just puzzled!

    Cheers

Just to complicate matters, most of mine are marked with one *, but a few have three ***'s. The *** ones are all at the Co-op, but not all my Co-op transactions have three stars.

It also seems to me that they've changed the way in which the cashback is calculated. Looks like it's paid on the full amount (rather than rounding each transaction down to the nearest pound) with the cashback amount for each transaction being rounded up to the nearest penny.

  • I too am still getting 3% on food and fuel, even though I have exceeded the £5k limit.

Last month I had a meal in a restaurant and used the card.

I was amazed when the statement came and they had only paid me 0.5% cashback. What else can you buy in a restaurant other than food???

Maybe their systems are sophisticated enough to classify every restuarant in the UK as a food outlet and therefore 3% is payable. Still seems a bit of a cheek to me though...
  • I still haven't quite understood. I have exceeded the £5 k mark by a long way too but not on food and petrol.
Are you saying that you've exceeded 5k on food and petrol and still getting 3%?
In response to Sloughflint, yes I have exceeded the £5k limit and I am still getting 3% cashback.

According to the letter GE Money sent out in December, all puchases made up until then (food, petrol AND everything else they were paying 3% cashback) will count towards the £5000 allowance.

Up to and including my December statement I had a total expenditure of £4457 on my GE Money card, and received 3% cashback on all of it.

My January statement showed I had spent £607 on food and petrol and received 3% cashback on that expenditure, but only 0.5% cashback on other purchases. Total of goods receiving 3% cashback now £5064 (over the £5k limit).

My February statement shows a further £220 of food and petrol purchases and I'm still getting 3% cashback. Total of goods on which I have received 3% cashback is now £5284.

    Hope that clarifies the situation.

I'm guessing, but it is just possible that GE Money reset the annual limit to £0 after the second cashback payment, but only time will tell.

Is anyone just getting 0.5% cashback on food and petrol? If not, I think we better follow IvanOpinion's advice and keep quiet in case GE Money find out.

Many posts ago in this thread:

there was the suggestion that GE Money were hoping to make it possible to view statements/transactions online. Has anybody heard any more on this?
