while they don't tell you how much per transaction, the ones that attract 3% are coloured green.

It's grocery stores/supermarkets and petrol stations that get 3%. As Milarky says, it's based on what 'business type' they sign up to mastercard as. Thats why, large M&S with a grocery department doesn't get 3% as it's registered as department store, where as the standalone simply foods are registered as grocer. While you buy 'food' as a resturant -even newsagents sells confectionary - these will not count.

Anyone know if using a petrol/supermarket abroad attracts 3%???
  • Our local Lloyd's Pharmacy gets 3% cashback. Maybe they sell petrol or groceries by prescription.

Just to let you know that if you have been waiting for GE to set up online account access they have now done it.

    You can register at https://www.gemoney.co.uk/service/authentication/gemoney.

I’ve registered and logged in successfully this morning - it all looks ok.

    HTH.

Thanks for posting that. We've waited a long time. I registered today and it works quite well.

There is an option to turn off paper statements but I'm not going to take them up on it because you can only go back six months and it's not possible to identify transactions that qualify for the higher rate of cashback.

    A few tips:
    • Your account number is the one on your statement, not the one on your card.
    • When you register, it asks you for your mobile number. When I filled mine in it rejected it, saying I had to use the number I entered when applying. I eventually realised that the field was not compulsory, I left it blank, and all was well.
    • You can see your cashback to date under 'Account details'. At least I think that's where it is: that part of the site is down at the moment.
Now time to head over to Egg Money to request that the site be added to the Egg Money Manager.

No problem at all; also some handy tips you've posted. Just to confirm that details of cashback can be found under 'Settings -> Account Details'.

This has been bugging me since I posted on 13th May, so I am going to follow it up with GE and thought it may be worth letting everyone else know.

Telephoned GE on the 13th to say that I didn’t know what password I had registered with (as this was back last August) and could I change it.

The lady I spoke to asked me some security questions (all the info of which would be available on a statement) and my DOB. Granted that my DOB would have to be known but I don’t think that it would be that difficult to find out.

After this she gave me my password, no problem.

Is it me and my paranoia, or does anyone else think that it was just a bit too easy to do?

    Thanks,
    L

If anyone did manage to get into your account, I think the worse they could do was to change your address so that the statments went elsewhere and use that for ID Theft (take out loans etc..).

There isn't anywhere that you can balance transfer or obtain money.

I can't see them making a bill payment for you.

The Customer Services person should have told you to follow the 'Forgotten your Online Password?' section online. It's a bit naughty giving out passwords over the phone.

While I appreciate you are probably acting out of good faith by posting the link I notice it is not avaialble from the site homepage. I did check your URL before trying it but if I were being ultra paranoid one could question if this was a 'phishing' exercise going on ... I do remember an incident where an employee put up a dummy site within their companies domain to collect details of customers.

    Where does paranois stop :D

It is available from https://www.gemoney.co.uk Click on "GE Money Credit Card Account" underneath the 'Manage Your' section on the left hand side.

Cheers, had not found that one, I was only using it as an example of paranoia not to question .. but it is maybe a good lesson, never trust links in emails or web sites without checking their properties etc. first
