Why didn't your mum speak to the postie and ask where the parcel was?
Sorry to hear that you are ill - but isn't there an option to have it redelivered?
Thanks for your reply

Have had the posty leave a "While you were out" card on my door mat, he left it on my internal door mat as my front door was open as I was sorting the front garden out I had just gone to get the hose. When I read the card I laughed and had a quick jog down the street, to catch him up. I asked him about the parcel only to be told sheepishly that he didnt actually have it with him or in his van, he had left it at the main depot.
I asked him very politely to go and get it, and if I wasn't in the front garden when he got back to ring the doorbell. half hour later parcel in my hand.0 -
I had a card pushed through the door, but I was in the hallway at the time, so legged it after the postie who told me he didnt have my parcel it was at the depo
When I asked him why he had put a card through my door he told me "I came yesterday with the parcel but didnt have any cards left on me, so this card is really for yesterday". I told him I WAS in all day yesterday, infact im in all day every day mon-fri as I work from home.
The depo manager delivered my parcel 40 minutes later after I rang and complained, he has happened twice since but Ive not caught up with the postie0 -

You might as well do this
I accidentally set one of those up when the PO asked me do I want so and so? I thought why notTurns out for me, sometimes it was worth the wait, sometimes it was annoying as you had to go every week to ask if you have any parcels from the sorting office. You can also get a "parcel safe" for standard post, so the postie can just post your standard post in your parcelsafe. Of course, if you have a postie that signs for your items and leaves them behind a bin etc... then this would be more than ideal if you get a few of them "sorry you were late" cards. For some people, it may require you to train your posties though

This has once again happened to us today. Someone was in all day yesterday but we got the 'tried to deliver a packet' card today dated yesterday . Annoying thing is we cant collect it until Saturday now. Feel like phoning up to complain yet again but what is the point I'm still waiting for a response to my last call about three months ago when they decided to put all our post in the correct numbered house but the wrong road!!!0

uumm
thats local collect 2 for businesses
you can local collect your items for 50p.this is on every card you get
the fact is you cannot put all packages to a PO(though i happens in some rural areas)
given many po's were shut the remaining ones just dont have the space to take every packet we cannot deliver.
with later starts ican be taking back 90% of my packets every day
Done my 1st walk in 12 yrs last week to try to clear some of the london backlog of mail, luckily used to be a postie before being promoted to PHG then manager, but had to learn the area fast.
Its really annoying having a large item and when you get to the letter box to then find its got the smallest slot in history, luyckily i was given a trolley to use but still ended up returning 15 packets and 7 sign for items because no-one was in.
I can understand why a postman with a bag would not want to carry a packet all round his round only to walk back with it, its not right and you can complain direct to the local delivery manager if it happens regulary.
One person accused me of doing this and got the shock of his life when i presented his items.
