Our postman doesn't even ring the doorbell!! We have a porch so you can't hear if someone knocks on the door (which he continues to do!), so we regularly get the 'sorry you were out' card! In our old house we had one postman jump over our garden fence (which was quite high) and put the parcel in our shed! He then left the card through the door to tell us it was in our shed!0

Caught the postman red-handed last week. I knew for a fact that someone had posted two envelopes to me both special delivery, so the next day, I stayed in so that I'd not miss the postie. I was washing my car in the drive when he handed me a pile of letters without a word, turned and went next door. I looked through the pile and there were the two "while you were out" cards for the SD items - I shouted over the drive to ask him where they were. He first tried the usual line that he'd tried to deliver them yesterday and had run out of cards but when I told him that I knew they'd only been posted the day before, he then had to admit that he didn't expect me to be home so he'd left them at the depot rather than carrying them. To his credit, he did offer to go back to collect them and drop them off later on, but he didn't come back until mid-afternoon and then he'd already written the time on his "signature" card as mid-morning - which I changed before signing it. It's not as if he was new or a temp - he's been a regular postie for a long time and should have known better, especially for the supposedly "gold standard" special delivery!0

That's strange, whenever I've had anything special delivery it's turned up by van, as it's got to be there by 9am.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I didn't know that, all mine have come at about 7-9am, I guess I just assumed they were meant to be there before 9.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

My post woman is awesome
Have a nice chat with her sometimes as well, however other posties arent up to scratch. a DHL postie didnt even knock and left a sorry you werent home card, when my mum was next door-I was asleep
With Interlink, I once had a postie who knocked really quietly, and I never noticed until my mum noticed . BTW, Im still a student at college, so Im bound to live with my mum, so nobody laugh

Why dont royal mail offer a "collect at local post office" service where people can send there parcels directly there to save the postman some work. 90% of the time i'm out and the postman has to bring the parcel to my door write a card and then take it back to the sorting office. I then have to go to the sorting office and collect it when it suits me. I'd rather get it sent to the local post office and i'd get it on my way home.
My mum works in a small, rural post office, and she simply wouldn't have space to keep your parcels for you.
She sometimes has to turn parcels away for posting, as she has to be able to keep them secure, and if she has no more room, she can't honestly say that they are secure.
If she had to take in parcels for delivery too, it would be a nightmare!!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -

you can also select a mail collect service, where you just go and collect parcels from the sorting office0 -
I know exactly what you all mean, this has happened to me loads of times before.
I thought this year because of the postal strikes, I would order my Halloween costume early off Amazon.... they sent it the next day, my mam actually saw the post man walk up to the door with NOTHING in his hand, and post the "sorry you were out" card, then get back in his van!! lol.
Its such a shame because I am really ill and dont even know if i'll be well enough to travel to the post office within the week. :eek:0 -

Why didn't your mum speak to the postie and ask where the parcel was?
Sorry to hear that you are ill - but isn't there an option to have it redelivered? Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0
