The problem with Royal Mail stems from governments telling RM management to streamline it to be privatised. The first thing a privatised company is likely to do would be to treble the price of a first class stamp and do away with second class. That's without the natural increase in prices when VAT has to be added to everything.
Privatisation wouldn't bring about a solution, just a whole new set of problems.
No company would buy a company whose work force are in dispute with management and it certainly wouldn't be viable to float on the stock market.

Indeed, just look at what it's done for the railways, gas and electricity.

My electricity now comes from a company owned by the French state, and is more expensive than ever.

It's been renationilised, but now owned by someone elses government, who get all the profits, and if there's an energy shortage, guess which countries lights will go out first...

Sorry got bored reading whole thing and couldn't see it in last few posts. I assume though if the strikes get prolonged they will start to use temporary staff for delivery as well.

lol would u work an extra half hour without pay every day? That's just one walk, multiply that by 5 days, 2.5 hrs a week. Then multiply that by how many walks are undercalculated. I think you will find that RM are onto a winner with this.

Have you ever worked in a proper commercial environment? If I could get away with only half an hour each day I'd be chuffed, as I am sure most people would.

If you don't like it you could always leave.
