  • my posties are great, really genuinely people, so if they feel they have no option but to strike then they would have my full support

unfortunately the strike coincides with my mass clear out of 3 years of baby and toddler stuff in anticipation of a house move - i was hoping to ebay loads of items starting this week, not sure what to do now though

why take a job as a postman if you dont want to walk Every day! through rail, hail, snow, wind and on the hottest of summers day?

Tts obvious the job entails this. Its a bit like becoming a bus driver then moan youve got to drive a bus all day
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

  • lol! oops sorry!

    missing word was lovely

    "really genuinely lovely people"
  • My postman is fantastic, always knocks extra loud and even likes my dog! I'm prepared to support the strike if it means I get to keep him :-)

custardy etc, is there anything people can do to show support (other than not moaning, lol)?

I was responding to what you said.

Tis as you rightly said a posties choice..they do enjoy walking....they just like to get paid for it too and not be overworked in the process! Most of them also like being out in the fresh air, not stuck in an office all day. They aren't striking because of having to walk but because of they way they are being treated!

It doesn't matter what job you do...if the bosses treat you badly...I'm sure you would be complaining about it too!

m not sure of the true reasons behind this action but if its down to rounds taking an extra half hour, heavy post bags etc then think yourself lucky in this climate you have got a job!

TBH ive no sympathy if the workers didnt keep loosing, damaging etc my mail I both send and receive then maybe I would have more sympathy for them.

Surely you dont have to strike if you dont want to?

All those people on the state would be grateful for these jobs!

lol would u work an extra half hour without pay every day? That's just one walk, multiply that by 5 days, 2.5 hrs a week. Then multiply that by how many walks are undercalculated. I think you will find that RM are onto a winner with this. As for the heavy postbags, there is a limit of which we are supposed to take. Custardly will have the right amounts, 16kg iirc, instead we are FORCED to take bags out that are around 20-21 kg which is overweight and breeches health and safety regulations!

I won't comment on damaged mail, machines are probably to blame for most of it, but bring in more machines.

And as for all the people who would be grateful for these jobs, let them apply. RM are still advertising for people.

And no I don't want to strike, but yes i will strike, because RM have left me no option other than to strike.

Imagine how you would cope then when royal mail make redundancies from loosing so much business and your claiming JSA of £50-£60 a wk!

Custardly already answered this. However, I shall also add a note as a part timer and single parent, I would probably be better off. Rent free, council tax free, etc etc etc. I've been unemployed, I didn't like it. I don't want to go back to being unemployed, that's another reason we are striking! It's not easy being unemployed, but it's not easy being a single parent and part time either. How many do u think are going to be laid off b4 RM finish this?

why take a job as a postman if you dont want to walk

Well personally I love walking everyday, just wish I could, unfortunately due to RM and their overweight bags I now have a knee injury. Which means I have to use a trolley, and only do 1/4 of a duty. Using a trolley also takes more time, but RM don't take that into account.
