Hi Everyone,

Firstly, please can anyone who has been affected by Swags & Sashes please please write to Companies House as mentioned by am078 above. IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT that we DO NOT let them get away with this.
They also took money for chair covers & bows for our wedding and didn't turn up (26th August 2010). THEY ARE NOT IN LIQUIDATION, but trying to get themselves removed from the Companies House register so that they cannot then be chased for any monies owed.

I have pasted below the outline of the letter my husband and i are sending to Companies House, cc'ing Trading Standards and Swags and Sashes. I wouldn't recommend that you copy this letter exactly, but perhaps it might be useful?
The more people that object, the more we are likely to get our money back...

We are writing to you with regards to the above company, Swags & Sashes.
Swags & Sashes were booked to provide chair covers & organza ribbons bows (for chairs) for our wedding day on the 26th August 2010.
The company failed to provide the services as agreed in our contract; firstly failing to provide us with agreed swatches of the colours & fabrics to be used for our wedding day and secondly failing to even turn up on our wedding day despite having received full payment for these services.

Our balance was paid in full a month prior to our wedding day and after they received our final balance they stopped answering/returning any phone calls or emails. Please find attached copies of paid invoices and some of the various unanswered correspondence.

I have found various websites with comments from other brides/grooms with the same experiences – we are not an exceptional case. Swags and Sashes have continued to accept bookings and payments from many other couples with absolutely no intention of carrying out the services they are being paid for.

Despite the numerous emails and telephone calls to try and recover the monies we have had no response from them. Their website now states that the company has gone into liquidation, however we have been informed by yourselves that this is not correct and they have simply asked to be removed from the Companies House register.

This letter is simply to formally object the removal of Swags and Sashes from the Companies House register as this will severely affect our (and many of the other hundreds of people who have been let down by this company) chances of recovering our money through small claims courts or insurance companies.

We would like to ask you to seriously consider our objection and help us fight against a company who have deliberately & continually taken money for services they had no intention of carrying out. It is absolutely unacceptable that a company should get away with deliberately & callously ruining (or at the very least seriously affecting) the wedding day of many couples.
