Do you work for them Wendy?

See, out of the majority of new users, they don't tend to join up and post a thread praising a company, unless they have something to do with that company.

    Thats what I thought too!

  • Morning all.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience with 'Swags and Sashes' located in Westcliff Essex?
They seem unbelievably cheap ( chair covers including sash at £1.75 ) along with other great priced stuff. I've been emailing the woman in charge, Charlie, and she seems so friendly and helpful.
I'm just a little worried about quality, standard and whether they are reliable at those prices. I feel really horrible asking as they may just genuinely be nice, honest people offering a great deal.....but you can never be too careful!!
Can't really fins any reviews on the net so thought I'd put it to you guys!
    Muchos thanks!!
I have booked them for my Daughters Wedding on the 4th Sept. all money is paid and they are not answering the phone and not responding to e-mails either, just don't use them than risk your special day....Kim Smith

Oh I'm sorry to hear about that Kim!

Thank you for coming here to warn others though, I hope your daughter gets sorted with something else and hope you get your money back.
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...
  • I used Swags and Sashes for my wedding on 9th July and would NOT recommend anyone else to use them.

We ordered the covers to arrive on the 7th July, and when I contacted them to check on their whereabouts (after trying to get through for an hour) I was told there had been a mix up and they wouldn't be arriving until the 8th July, and that it was tough, basically.

When they arrived, they came in the dirtiest, tattiest box you've ever seen, and out of 60 that were ordered, 50 were a mess - covered in stains and full of creases, so I had to clean them up as best I could on the day befor my wedding!

Their service was terrible and although cheap, the covers aren't the best.

I have been on to trading Standards at southend on sea and they are really nice they are going to go to the address tosee if the business is still running, as for 1 week now i have had no reply to e-mails or phone calls, the phone just rings constantly, this is no way to run a business, i just hope they turn up on the day!
BE AWARE they can't be trusted!
I Think it's to late to get my money back but really don't know what to do.???
  • I used Swags and Sashes for my wedding on the 22nd of May this year. They worried me throughout the planning stage.

I contacted them through their website a year before my wedding day, and Charlie (the owner?) emailed me back immediately, and gave the impression she was in total control. I filled in my order form and sent it off with the deposit of £400. They acknowledged the deposit and after that, I didn't hear a peep out of them.

I changed my mind about the colour scheme halfway through, 6 months before the wedding, filled in a new order form, and sent it to them. Kathryn contacted me by email to say they had received the form, and sent me a purchase invoice to pay the remaining balance. I did this within a week of receiving the bill.

After that, I heard nothing. I emailed Kathryn and Charlie several times, before having a near breakdown. I asked my Husband to take over, as I was planning the wedding all by myself, and I just couldn't take the stress. He called them, two weeks before the wedding and got through to Lorraine. She informed us that Kathryn had been made redundant as she had made lots of mistakes. Lorraine took all the details again, from my husband, and said she would look after everything.

On the big day, they arrived on time. They set up everything, as we had requested. Their chair covers and sashes were all provided, and were clean and they put pink roses in my sashes, which looked beautiful. The table plan was also great. The only thing that let me down was the quality of the letterbox (made of thin card) and the centrepieces were nothing like I had wanted. They needed more flowers.

To be frank, I didn't really care. I was having a wonderful time, and no-one took any notice of the centrepieces anyway. You get what you pay for...Swags and Sashes are very cheap, and if you are on a tight budget, they fit the bill perfectly. Just don't be suprised by the lack of communication - you have been warned!

Oh !!!!!!! I wish I had read this sooner! We have booked with them as they were the only ones free at short notice (after being let down by another company).
I'm going to be panicking for 6 weeks now!
  • I have been trying to get hold of this company for 3 weeks by email with no reply and when trying to ring today the number does not work so rather worried. We paid a deposit last year and have not tried to contact them before now I think they are no longer trading but cannot confirm this and will be ringing trading standards tomorrow to find out. I advise not to use of still trading and if anyone gets hold of them please let me know cheers
  • I am getting married this Saturday 28th August and i cannot get hold of anyone from swags and sashes.
I too was shocked today when i tried to call, only to hear that there only contact number was no longer accepting incoming calls.
I called Southend Trading Standards today who advise that i can try and claim compensation through the breach of contract rule. But that still doesnt help me with the fact that i now have no chair covers for my wedding in 5 days times!!
I have sent one last email threatening small claims court but i doubt i will get a reply. If any of you get a response in the next few days i would be grateful if you could update your post.
  • We used them in July thankfully only for chair covers.
They delivered them on time, but when I opened them I found they were dirty, and had holes in. They were the wrong size despite my asking prior to the day what size they would fit.
They haven't returned calls or emails since, and have not refunded money.
Now their number doesnt ring so vie no idea what they are doing.
I recommend not using them and paying slightly more.
