Swags and Sashes

Morning all.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience with 'Swags and Sashes' located in Westcliff Essex?
They seem unbelievably cheap ( chair covers including sash at £1.75 ) along with other great priced stuff. I've been emailing the woman in charge, Charlie, and she seems so friendly and helpful.
I'm just a little worried about quality, standard and whether they are reliable at those prices. I feel really horrible asking as they may just genuinely be nice, honest people offering a great deal.....but you can never be too careful!!
Can't really fins any reviews on the net so thought I'd put it to you guys!
Muchos thanks!!

No problem! Quite mixed reviews there, but it looks like the people who are worried haven't had their wedding yet. The ones that have, are praising the company.

If you can hold out, then I'd advise waiting a bit then looking again for some more reviews when people have actually had their day x

  • I used swags and sashes for my wedding in June and found them brilliant!!
I dealt with Charlie and she gave me alot of ideas for my table centers as I didnt really know what theme to go with.

She came to meet me at my venue and I met her at their offices in Southend so sure you could go and see her if you wanted!

    Hope this helps xxx

Sorry to Bump an old thread, but this thread shows on pg1 of google when searching for swags and sashes reviews, and I wanted to post my comments for anyone looking in future, as I recently used this company for my wedding in March.

To start with they were really friendly and really cooperative, but once i paid my deposit (50%) I heard very little from them.

On the day, it was a complete disaster, the items were either not received, wrong, of very poor quality, or a mixture of both.

I think they take very little care when it comes to weddings accross the country. They must have made very little from my wedding as they didn't charge setup etc, but they'll make even less when i'm finished, as i'm currently starting legal proceedings.

a quick list of what our main concerns were :
    1) We ordered 63 chair covers and sashes, on the day we only received 55.
    2) Of the chair covers we did receive, over 50% of them were visibly dirty (large brown marks!), and we did not have the time nor facilities to have these laundered.

    3) We ordered table runners for each of our guest tables (7), none of these were received.
    4) We ordered swags for our top table, none of these were received.
    5) The centerppeices we received were not at all like what we ordered (we ordered trees with flowers around the base, and received vases with twigs in).
    6) 3 of the vases we received were chipped.
    7) The vases came with black light bases which lit the vase with blue LED's, however one of these did not work which meant we were unable to use any of these and had to provide our own bases (at 10pm the night before the wedding!).
    8) The company was supposed to deliver table runners for the day before the wedding, and come on the morning of the wedding to set up the remainder of the items, I had arranged for my mum to be available on the morning of to show them where and how things were supposed to be set up. Actually they attended the day before without informing us, with only half the items as mentioned above, and we were therefore unable to discuss the issues with them at the time.
    9) The company was supposed to collect the item on the evening of the wedding, but actually came 2 days later, when I was on my honeymoon, meaning the hotel had to remove and store all of there items when they had another wedding the next day.

we found it very underhand that they snuck in to "set up" (which was actually just dropping of a box of stuff for the hotel staff to put together) when we werent there, and not collecting when they said they would.

Generally they were unprofessional, and the quality of the items was completely unacceptable, even considering the price.

Our hotel staff worked till 2am trying to sort the venue to make the decorrations look acceptable, and I ended up borrowing huge amounts of stuff from the wedding planners "box of tricks" to compensate.

In summary - definately don't use if you're anything other than so local you can pop round the day before your wedding if they mess up!

Thanks for the feedback. I have been considering them too as I am based in Essex. Have they apologised or given you any reason for the poor service on the day?

This has really put me off - it seems you get what you pay for - as always!!

They haven't responded to my correspondance at all since I raised concerns with them. I think they think i'm bluffing, but that is something they will no doubt live to regret, particularly as i'm now trawling to internet to make sure that ever "what are swags and sashes like" thread I can find will has my feedback on.

If they come back to me with a reasonable explanation I will update on here, you never know, maybe there is a genuine reason they completely messed up my order and then lost all ability to return contact! and if there is, fair enough.

Otherwise, I personally would rather pay more for a reputable company, or do it myself (chair covers on ebay are pretty cheap, and I'm sure you can get laundrey services to was and iron them.. then you can sell them on ebay again after .. and as for table decorations, i have a million ideas that would be cheaper and better than anything they offer - if you want ideas let me know, i'll send you my document with all my bits on!)

I am very local to them so I would have the option to pick up the covers before the wedding however I'm not sure I can be bothered with worrying if they would let me down. I will explore the ebay option for sure!

I was only looking to them for chair covers as I am doing the MSE thing and doing my own flowers / centerpieces for the tables. :)

Swags & Sashes hired me 100 chair covers and sashes for my wedding recently and I have to say I was suprised at the above comments as they did an absolutley stunning job for me! The chairs and sashes looked superb and really transformed both my ceremony room and ballroom at the Pinewood studios! I would be more than happy to reccomend this company along with many other suppliers I used in the area if anybody would like any details?

Do you work for them Wendy?

See, out of the majority of new users, they don't tend to join up and post a thread praising a company, unless they have something to do with that company.
