Maggie there used to be a spam button for each thread, now there is one for every post (apart from your own posts as you can't report yourself! lol), so if you see spam, you can report it without reporting the whole thread.
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...
  • I booked swags and sashes June last year. We got married in Cyprus on 1st September 2010, we were having a party when we got back for 11th September. We paid the who amount for chair covers and sashes of £385.

Before I went away (after several emails and calls) I finally got through to say that our numbers had changed from 140 to 110, when we asked for a refund of the difference. They came up with that when we booked it was a discounted price but now the numbers had changed they would have to charge more for delievery meaning I was only entitled to £1.61 refund. I was told that everything was in order etc.

Come 11th September I arrive at our party, no chair covers or sashes. The room had been opened 2 hours before to allow them time to set up. I was absolutely fuming.

Went on their website on Sunday, where we found out that they have gone into liquidation. We paid by bank transfer so we doubt we will get the £385 we paid back

hi im really sorry to hear your a victim of these people as well i know its short notice but i did my own centre pieces 4 fish bowls on mirrors with pink calla lilies in and 4 giant martini glasses with floating candles on mirrors also white organza swags and fushia bows for top table which im now going to sell if yous intrested . The photograher was very impressed with them :)
  • I imagine most people are aware by now, but for those of you still viewing this thread who are not, Swags and Sashes have gone into liquidation. They are supposedly going to write to all creditors, but so far I have not received anything.
I called trading standards who recommend I write to the company and hopefully the landlord will forward on to them. I'm not holding my breath. No one has been in touch with me regarding my wedding in two weeks to apologise and advise they are not going to show up. I only found out by chance because I needed to amend the number of chair covers but was getting no response from them, so I checked their website, where, under the Contact details page, it advises of the liquidation.
Because of the way they asked for payment - direct cahs transfer, I have no rights and cannot get my money back through my bank. I am furious, but at least I had only paid them half!
Good luck to everyone who is owed money by them and if anyone has any further information, I would be grateful to hear it.

  • HI LADIES
I feel awful for you all as I know myself that this is the last thing you need with the stress of an upcoming wedding.
my friend of 20 years started a company with her mum last year in this business so if anyone in the northwest area needs help with the venue decor please get in touch and I can send you details.
she is very reasonably priced, genuine and if you want me to send piccies of my own wedding so you can see the quality of there work I can
I also have some table decor/baloon weights etc in a hot pink and black colour scheme, which were my own that i would be willing to loan to anybody local to me if they have been let down.

  • For all those with outstanding orders...

We had ordered chair covers from swags and sashes but realised, the week prior to our wedding 10th Sept, that something was not right as they were not replying to our emails.
Instead, we contacted 'Ace Occasions' based on Harrow Road, London and with one week to go they were able to complete our order. They do deliver, but we chose to collect the covers which were all clean and looked beautiful!
  • We had booked them for our wedding on 5th November and recently saw on their site that they have gone into liquidation. We've got wedding insurance which covers "failure of supplier" but as the Companies House website has not been updated, the insurance company are refusing to pay out as they have no 'proof of liquidation'. I'm quite certain that S&S have no intention of fulfilling the contract to decorate our venue but I must now wait until after the big day to try and claim for their 'failure to supply'. It leaves me with no cash to fund an alternative supplier.

Very disappointed and feeling for all the other people who have been affected by this. I'm fortunate in that I have 5 weeks to sort something out - I'd be in pieces if I got a nasty surprise like this on the wedding day!

Sorry everyone I don't know anything about this company I just wanted to say to you all that I am really gutted for you. Some people are just horrible aren't they. I just hope that they get what is coming to them but that is not going to sort out the mess they have left everyone in. I just hope everyone who has had dealings with this company manages to get everything sorted and that you all have wonderful weddings regardless (and be grateful that you guys are definately not marrying anyone as selfish and cruel as this Charlie person!)
  • I hired this company for my wedding chair covers also. They did the same with me. I paid in full and a week before my wedding I couldn't get hold of them and got the liquidation message on the site. My wedding insurance won't cover it as they have not actually gone into liquidation - just asked to remove themselves from Companies House's register (which means they aren't bankrupt, just that they decided to close the business and leave all their customers in the lurch). I called them and they said we have until December 31st for anyone to object to this. She said so far only one person has. I plan to object myself. Hopefully if enough of us do, they might be able to do something about it and get us our money back. You have to write to them at Companies House, Crown Way, Maindy, Cardiff CF14 3UZ explaining your situation and attach any invoice copies. Good luck. Hope the owners don't get away with this.
