I was born into a time of Excel!

That other one looks a bit advance to me...........

as long as I can make it total at the bottom, i dont mind :)

It's virtually the same as Excel except the macros are different (do you use macros?), and it handles import of data a lot better.

I've got both installed on this.

    oooooooooooh the importing of data..............

My spreadsheet has dates up until aug 2008, monthly sum, extras and a running total, then a big fat cell that has my grand total!

I may even jazz it up with some gridlines and headers.........

I cant believe I'm pleased with myself over that!

(Its saved under New York New York :( )

You've got to start somewhere. Every skyscraper started as a small hole in the ground. But beware of adding more and more features.

That leads to the Dark Side.

OK Cafgirl, another idea for your spreadsheets - copied from mortgage free wanabee site, where it was suggested you make grid and fill in a box for every £100 or £1000 paid off.....

So, how much do you want to save? How many £10 boxes its that? Make yourself a grid - but in the shape of a NY sky line - then you can really see your dream taking shape every time you save £10!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Guess its an overall attitude change, which will aid me no end with the whole battle to become debt free! Will make effort to ask her for it tomorrow.......

Yup - this is the good way...
or maybe I'll leave a note somewhere?

Cowards option? I guess.......... but I'm weak!

Definitely a cowards option. And if your housemate is anything like mine, you'll ask if they saw it in a weeks time, and they'll say "What note?" even though you wrote it on flourescent yellow paper and stuck it somewhere very obvious...

Now - Which way are you going to choose?

Poison wise - make her a 'special' almond sponge ;):D

And excel spreadsheet feature creep is bad - you know you've gone too far when your spreadsheet to calculate the mortgage is on 3 sheets, each two screens wide, and it produces lovely comparison graphs for no end of what if scenarios...

Oh, and I use Quattro Pro - it installs off floppy disks!

    So many choices!

Am loving the savings grid shaped like the skyline, that is fab.

Although, I may attempt it by hand, not using comp. And leave it on a wall in my house where the BF will see it every so often.........

OK what I really mean is I love the idea, but wouldnt have a clue how to do it on a comp, so I'll try one by hand :)

OK...... spent my lunc break working out that flatmate owes me £9 toward shop in asda for her items and shared items that she and her screaming bansee friend have already been eating.
Plus £10 for Sky tv, as this has now gone up from intro offer.
£20 per utility, so thats £60 per month now.
    £50 council tax
So thats now a standard payment of £120 i should be getting each month towards bills.

This doesnt even include money toward phone line, which although she doesnt make calls on, she receives them on, should she be paying toward line rental at least?

If she's using the phone line, then I'd expect her to contribute to it... My lodger said before he moved in that he wouldn't be using a phone line, so won't contribute - and in the year or so he's been here, he hasn't as far as I can tell.

Well, take a deep breath, take another shot of courage ;) and have a word!
