Halifax Reward Account - multiple applications

  • I have three reward accounts opened when they first came out and had High Interest, changed immediately into reward when they gave me an option this month.
I have just logged in to my online banking to find out that two reward accounts have been closed and my £2 are lost! Anyone else had the same experience?
It seems they are acting early on their 1 account policy early! Obviously I will argue with them and complain.:naughty: I will let you know about the outcome...

    My 3 are still there

Did you have any payments (DDs SO bill payments) set up on them?
  • between me and the wife we have 7 reward accounts between us..

So thats a easy £35 per month ?

  • I had a current account and a card cash account which over the phone I was persuaded by a pushy staff member to upgrade to reward accounts, so now I have 2 reward accounts and have been transferring money between them. Hopefully I will get the £5 reward on both which will pay back for these ridiculous overdraft fees they have applied to my accounts since Febuary.

After numerous mess ups on Halifax's part I will also be ditching and switching all of my 10 accounts with them! (some are my kids child trust funds and other childrens savings accounts)
  • I have just opened 3 online earlier today, all 3 say current account so will keep an eye on them turning to reward accounts over the next few days.

For those of you that this isn't their main current account, do you then take the £1000 out of these accounts altogether back into a savings account (with the Halifax or an external bank?) to ensure you earn interest on it? Thanks...

Yes, £1,000 in, cycled around all 3 accounts, and then £1,015 back out again...all on the same day...the 2nd of the month...and all by FP. :D

However, I'm considering employing a bit of 'deflection' now that they've announced the 'max 2 accounts' for new customers rule, ie using the accounts for a few transactions here and there (bill payments, cash withdrawals, debit card payment*, and the odd SO or two)

    * Now where are those PIN letters?:rotfl:

I'm hoping that since LTSB didn't shutdown excess Vantage accounts when they imposed the 3 limit that if you have yr accounts setup before 1/11 you might be able to keep them

When did they state max two accounts? Thanks for the earlier reply...

But there's something in it for LTSB...£28/35/42/49K of 'cheap' funding they can use to provide overdraft facilities, loan out, invest, etc.

    What's in it for Halifax/BoS?

    It's max 2 accounts (1 sole/1 joint) from 1/11/09.
