I, like many others are going a bit mad trying to decide what bed to go for.
Do you know what makes me even madder????? It is DRAWERS that are under the bed, not DRAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't seen it on this thread, but you just have to look at the websites for some of these bed companies, or ads in the newspaper and:mad:
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

It's not drawers that make me mad, it's that people spell the word as DRAWS. I think it's because English people pronounce the word without the second 'R' and they obviously didn't learn to spell at school. I just don't understand why companies go to the trouble and expense of having a website or fancy sign created and don't check the spelling.
Mind you, maybe the correct word is DRAWS and not drawers as I have always thought. I stand to be corrected.
    Rant over.

I'd never actually noticed. I have noticed some sites with a number of mistakes in both spelling and grammar, but I just put id down to English not being the first language of the person who made the web site.

Obviously the correct spelling is drawers.
  • Bedkingdom are offering the Madrid kingsize for £447.49 (free delivery) and Bedlum Beds for £474 (including delivery) ...... where is it best to purchase from apart from the fact that there is a £27 difference?
  • I wouldn't touch an ikea mattress with a barge pole. Everyone I know who has had one has regretted it.

Interesting that there is such diverse opinion about Ikea matresses, an ex bought one a number of years ago the Sultan Skien with the wooden base, I must admit I was very impressed with it, I've no idea how it lasted as we split up soon after, but I do remember it well. To the extant that now I'm looking for a double bed for myself, I'm thinking about buying one, but that then limits me to the Ikea bedframes to accomodate it.

I'm looking for a 1.9m x 0.9m single to fit a daybed as well, I did some research and came up with the Sealy Millionaire Ortho Single, which I've managed to price at £189 inc del from a company called www. mattressmagic. co.uk, I'm not too sure about the mattress as it doesn't give me much of a guide regarding firmness, I would prefer firm.

Has anyone had a Sealy Orthopedic or bought from MattressMagic??

There are some people who think that Ikea are good quality, but then there were some people who thought that the old MFI Hygena range were good quality. In my opinion Ikea aren't godd quality, they are just affordable, with some items being better quality than others.

I have never owned an Ikea bed myself, but I have looked at the construction (which in some cases isn't good). However I do listen to 1000's of people who have owned all sorts of beds, and this can give you a general impression about the quality of any brand. It does seem that many people who have a Ikea bed will replace the mattress with a non Ikea one, even though they have to pay extra for continental sizes.

As for Sealy, they are part of the Silentnight group. So I'd suggest that you do a search on the MSE forums before you even consider buying one.

I've seen Rest Assuured (part of Silennight?) pocket spring as follows
    Firm feel.
14 gauge pocket sprung mattress with 696 springs.
    Tufted damask cover.
    Mattress size W135, L190, D25cm.
    Turn mattress regularly.
    Handles for easy carrying.

    for £195.00.

    What is your opinion?

    Thanks.
