I bought a Sealy Ortho! Would NOT recommend it. Me and OH wake up every morning with aches and pains - sore backs, sore hips, sore pelvis - you name it we've had it - always better when we're up and about so its defo the bed. Have spent so much time/effort/money buying toppers, etc now doing LOTS of research on a new mattress. Had a waterbed for about 8 years before this one and would even consider going back to one of those if it hadn't been the fact that it burst, flooded the room, brought downstairs ceiling half down !!! Total nightmare - just want a decent nights sleep! Bought sealy as we had great kip in centerparcs and that was what they had but no joy.

Read post 95. Sealy are also part of the Silentnight group. If you do a search in the MSE forums you will find many similar posts.......need I say any more?

Hi Tim

Please please help.

Bought a new double bed just over a year ago with a slatted base then fitted a new memory foam mattress to it, this was no good as the mattress was far too hard for me and gave me back problems, any how went to Bensons beds @10 months ago and they recommended a Silentnight sprung divan cost @£500 (I also find this mattress a little too hard) this really has caused my back no end of problems especially the base of my spine, every morning I wake up and am in pain I really need to do something about this.

Please can you point me in the right direction I figure I have spent over £800 on mattresses I cannot get a good nights sleep on.

Update: Mattress I am using is: Silent Night Miracoil 5, pocket 1550.

If I were you I would stay away from big brand names and big chain stores, and shop on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee that allows you to actually unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.

I'm currently looking for a new mattress as well (double), was looking on silent night website... is this not a good idea?!

Got mine in M&S in a sale, reduced from £600 to £350. It's a coil and memory foam. It's brilliant. Keep a lookout for the sales at decent places. I got it on line. Just get the best you can afford.
Think there is a lot of blather about trying them out first. How can you tell in a few minutes if it will suit you. It will be a couple of weeks anyway untill you wear it in.Don't get a hard one though, i've heard of quite a few people who did that and have regretted, like sleeping on a board.
