It's also far from being a replacement for Windows. It's essentially an online OS. Evrything you do with it is online using specific google apps.
It's really designed for netbooks and laptops that are used in addition to a 'normal' computer. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Fair enough. Its still a shame I have been ripped off though.0

Microsoft site now saying this:
Sorry, you’ve arrived too late for our special student Windows 7 offer
But don’t despair – a number of Microsoft partners have lots of special deals on Microsoft software for students – including for Windows 7.
Find out more from our partners:0 -

I don't know but says the following on s4s:
Please Note: changes to UK release of Microsoft Windows 7
Software4Students ask all our customers to please note that Microsoft have recently made a number of changes to the European release of Microsoft Windows 7. Please be aware that while this is subject to change, the latest information that we have is as follows:
This version of Windows 7 ships as an upgrade edition. It is NOT possible or permitted to perform a clean install with this product. You must have an existing valid Windows operating system on your hard disk. All editions of Windows 7 will now include the Internet Explorer 8 web browser as standard.0 -
As it says above, need W7 Ultimate so i can upgrade from the release candidate?
Can the student deal be used on no. of machines or just the 1, thanks.0 -
Microsoft appear to have renaged on the offer of Windows 7 until June as featured on your Student software page? You can now only get Office 2007 from the Ultimate Steal0

Windows 7 Pro (upgrade) still £30.0 -
You have hold of the wrong end of the stick on this one, certainly from the history of it. As far as I am concerned, they should never have been allowed to bundle IE.Does anyone else think it's gone too far when Microsoft aren't allowed to include their browser with their software package? Yes it hasn't been forced yet, but how long until it is?
I could understand if it was adding an extra cost to the custome,r but it only inconviences them further.
The reason is that they destroyed competing browsers and and used the dominance of IE4 to subtly vary from html standards with tools which generated incorrect html. IE4 could render these errors but other browsers could not.
In turn this meant that the web experience on Systems other than IE4 and Windows was much poorer. Not because the other systems were not as good, but because Microsoft were not working to the standards which everyone else was working to. Unfortunately it was the other systems which got the blame.
My right to choose the operating system and the browser I want depends upon Microsoft not being allowed to bundle their web browser. Although this is a complicated area, I hope you can see that if this was not done, my choices would be much poorer.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
