sellers "follow up": "full refund given and said to keep the item, couldn't have done more"
Playing devil's advocate for a second, how do we know the seller didn't originally tell the buyer to stick their refund, got negged, then left the follow up comment to try to justify the neg?

Would the buyer not then leave a follow-up comment as well?

    Only if they notice.

It is awful how many greedy, rude and downright stupid people you encounter on eBay but that's life :( I don't sell on eBay anymore because I would rather send my unwanted stuff to charity than endure the hassle, but at least you could tell the seller was decent from that feedback kiwi_fruit- and that the buyer was one to block!!

Personally I have never given a neg. If I'm ever unhappy I tell the seller first, or mark them down on whatever bothered me about the sale (which won't ruin their feedback as much as a neg will, but let other buyers know they're slow as sending, for example). I'm honest in my feedback but I'm always nice about it too.

With the new DSR rules a 1 or 2 in the DSRS could effect sellers far more than a neg would

Exactly! And with the upcoming postal strikes we're anticipating a few low stars in the dispatch time section!

It's even worse when the buyer will leave calm neg or criticism like 'Item not as described, no comms' and then the seller retorts with something like 'BUYER IS IDIOT PERSON CANNOT READ ZOMG WHAT A TOOL' If they'd replied in an equally calm way then you'd maybe be able to forgive them the bad feedback and assume it was a misunderstanding, but I'd never ever buy anything from anyone who'd talk to their customers like that.

I had a woman buy a dress off me a few weeks ago, my listing said it would take up to 10 business days for delivery. Immediately she sends me a message saying 'please can you let me know when you've posted it' so I said sure. The next day I get another message saying 'If you haven't posted the dress yet, please send it to xxx address as I'm going back to uni' so again I say that's fine. Next day I get another message asking if it's been posted yet so I say I was waiting for payment to clear into my bank account so it would be posted in a few days, they reply saying 'Well I don't see why it should take that long, but whatever'. So I'm starting to get a little irritated at this person's attitude and the fact that they didn't read the listing properly as it clearly stated 10 business days for delivery. So I send the item off, well within the time, and then get a feedback saying 'good item, slow postage' Some people just drive you mad!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

I have to say if I'm unhappy I tend to just not leave feedback, mainly cos I'm a wimp.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I try that sometimes- usually just means I get dozens of messages "can you leave feedback" until I snap and do leave them the feedback they deserve, and then I get abuse.

Yesterday I got this after leaving a neutral: "why would you even use ebay if your not going to leave feedback"

Er... because I want stuff, not to leave and recieve pointless blobs?
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
