Why are some buyers so harsh when leaving feedback..?

While looking at some sellers's feedback today I noticed a neg where buyer states that the item measurements were wrong and the item didn't fit, and underneath sellers "follow up": "full refund given and said to keep the item, couldn't have done more" and I'm just so sad for the seller:( Why oh why some buyers feel the need to be so harsh unnecessarily especially when one bad feedback can threaten sellers account. Ridiculous isn't it.

  • Fully agree with you. Especially now that buyers can't be given a neg any more.

  • I've had this before. Sold a Dior lipgloss, was only a small 5ml one, put the size in the item description, then get neg feedback "disappointed with size".... what more can you do?!! But on the whole i've had fantastic dealings with people on ebay, both as a buyer and seller, including one lady who sent me an extra item because i'd rounded up the amount to cover her PayPal fees (got the item at such a steal I felt a little guilty).

know what you mean - I got a neg feedback comment for an item saying "nearly the same price as in the shop!" which I found totally ridiculous as I put it on at a low start price and the buyer bid to that amount!!! BUT what more can I do other than tell everyone how much they can buy it for in the shops??? Never mind not the end of the world!

But don't you find that sort of negative feedback and the sellers reply tells you more about a seller than three pages of positives?

I think that some buyers are actually harsher with ebay sellers than they are with commercial companies. I am always completely accurate in my description, but have still had people complaining that there is a small mark on the product's box even though I stated that in the auction description. I wonder if these people get their knickers in such a twist if there is a small mark on the packaging of a product they buy from a shop. Probably not.

And what about the people who send you ranting complaints accusing you of being a con artist just because the item was damaged in the post etc, but never think to just politely ask you to resolve the problem. In real life do they go into shops and start ranting incoherently and accusing the shop owner of being a master criminal? I bet not.
  • I sympathise - I've had people mark me down on dispatch time..even though I always post on the day I receive payment (or the next morning if the payment is after the post office closes). I don't know how they think I could post it faster!!!

  • I've had buyers complain that the delivery was slow. I work full time but always post with 24hrs of getting payment but this one buyer complained but he was the one that chose 2nd class. I always give buyers the option of 1st or 2nd so if you choose 2nd don't complain!!!!

Same here. The mind boggles as to how exactly these people expect to get their items quicker.
