I try that sometimes- usually just means I get dozens of messages "can you leave feedback" until I snap and do leave them the feedback they deserve, and then I get abuse.

Yesterday I got this after leaving a neutral: "why would you even use ebay if your not going to leave feedback"

Er... because I want stuff, not to leave and recieve pointless blobs?

It doesn't take 2 seconds to leave feedback. You can just write "thanks". Although I must agree people who bombard you with messages asking for feedback do get on my nerves.

But it was going to be a neutral anyway, and I didn't want the hassle of explaining why to yet another seller who has a shaky grip on the english language. I was being both nice and lazy. ;)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

so I say I was waiting for payment to clear into my bank account so it would be posted in a few days,

10 days and you want to transfer the money into your bank account. Better hope I don't buy from you. Dreadful service.

Money transfers take 3-5 working days, so it was in my bank account, the the item sent and received by the buyer well within the time limit ;) It stated this clearly in the listing. I'm a small time personal seller, not a power selling business, if you're that rude to everyone then I'm glad you're not buying from me either!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

This of course brings up the age-old chestnut of whether you measure a seller against what they said they will provide in their listing ie the service you paid for and agreed to, or whether you measure them against your expectations, or against other sellers'/shops' service/etc.

  • Anybody who sells on Ebay who gets an unjustified neg has my sympathies. I got mine, I think it was, last week. My first negative.

The item, the buyer claims, was broke when he opened the packaging and left a neg for that, and also claimed I overcharged on shipping, conveniently forgetting that he also has to pay for the packaging too! He only took notice of the price of the stamp.

And he left this negative before contacting me to attempt to come to a solution. He also blackmailed me, saying if I said anything bad about him then he would go to paypal to get his refund.

This may say a lot about me but I don't like being bullied or blackmailed so I left a positive but with some neg comments in it as well.

Oh, and he had the balls to re-list the item I sent him, himself, so how this fella could try and even think of getting a refund is beyond me.

Anyone has a 100% feedback, cherish it. You won't have it for long because you will bound to run in to some thick idiot.

He'll be able to get that removed as its a false positive and ebay could also penalise you

I do think some sellers though don't appreciate how they come across when they sell things, and I say that as a seller myself.

I buy quite a bit on ebay, rather more than I should and i run into real problems where sellers should know better.

For example I bought a book and seller wanted more postage as she was limited to the £2.75 set by ebay and book was going to cost £2.70 to send and she said that as I won it for 99p she felt I should contribute another couple of pounds or so towards her packing and other costs. I refused and she got all shirty about how it isn't her fault that ebay set the postage rules and if I have an issue with it then I should take it out on ebay and not her. In the end she basically said pay an additional £2 or I'll just refund. She refunded I left a neutral and she was spitting feathers as she just kept insisting she had done nothing wrong.

I also left a neutral for slow despatch again where the seller was happy to blame ebay for defaulting her despatch time to 2 days where she actually went only once a week. I had to chase her for that item and again she basically said it wasn't her fault and she wasn't a business and what did i expect?

So I left a neutral when the item finally limped to me having been posted 8 days after purchase.

Your more restrained than me I would have left a Neg for the first one.
  • At present I have 100%, although I hardly sell anything but when I do I am sooo wary of what might be said. Although I sold a PS2 once and was really grateful when I got positive feedback because I'd accidentally put the PS1 memory card instead of the PS2 one (didn't even realise, they all look the same to me!). Although it was mentioned in the feedback, they didn't give me a neg or neutral so I sent an apology and the correct memory card out next day delivery for them.

But then another time I sold a DS game and couldn't get to post office when I thought I'd be able to. Next day had an email from buyer on my case as it was a birthday present for her son and she wanted it soon as. I apologised posted it, with next day special delivery out of my own pocket (she only paid for 1st class) and I threw in an extra couple of stylus' and a game case I had spare too. I never got a sniff of feedback from her , but I didn't chase it in case she got arsey and gave me a negative.
