Hi guys, just after some thoughts/ opinions. I've been a rep for a few months and so far have only done paygroups and home parties. I've been offered a market stall and am just wondering if anyone sells that way? What do you sell, only certain titles that you have on the day etc? Whats popular?
    TIA for any views
  • I do stalls at certain events, ie craft fairs, or school fetes.
I always find FYT, nature/ farm books, beginners range and cookery books are good sellers.

Before you book your stall, think about how much it is going to cost you, ie how much stock you will have to sell before you break even.
It is very rare for me to pay more than £20 per day now for a stall. Otherwise teh cost of your stall eats into your profits.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks, the stall is only a tenner so I think it will be worth a punt :)

I'd definitely give it a shot! I would take along a sale box - mine has half price books in to reel in those customers ;) I bag up on all the special offers. The offers that have just come out are fab!!!! The science ones are a real bargain :D

Oh I'm so gald you've said that as I've bought 20 sets to take and was beginning to doubt myself! I sold 6 at a party of Friday morning too!
I've also got a few bits that I don't really use for my target market so will half price them and do that too!

With the PD slips - ask everyone to fill one in and then ask them if they would like a party so they can get free books (they obviously like a bargain if they are there) then take all your PD slips home make them into a spread sheet and you have a customer database!

You'll also need to enter the details into the draw via a templated site, Usborne pay for the books for the winner so it's risk free for you!

    Good luck.

I know this is an old post but I was going to ask about the PD slips! I don't have my own templated website, do I just input the details in anyones?!

Yes - you could input them on your upline's website (or their upline's). Just make sure you tick the box to say not to be contacted.
  • Prize draw slips are great, make sure you get as many people as possible to fill them in. Also take plenty of recruiting packs with you.
I put all of the current starter kit in a display box or hamper to give me something to promote.

Hiya not sure if there are any reps out there 2 answer. I am starting to home school my 2 children at the start of June. I would love to try Usborne as I know I would need the books to help my own children on their educational journey, I also thought I could sell to others? Could you make enough money just doing events/parties at the weekend. My hubby works 12hr shifts and with both the children being at home full time I'm not sure if it would work? I love the books and have tried selling them before but there were lots of other reps in my area.

    Hello!

Definitely a brilliant way of starting Usborne - you will be able to get discounted books for your personal use. Whereabouts are you? Reps come and go all the time, so hopefully your area isn't so inundated now. Quite a few people run Usborne businesses alongside a full time job and do quite well out of it, so I don't see why you couldn't make it work. How old are your children? Perhaps you could take them to certain events with you if necessary. I find my 6 year old very helpful now :).

Building your own team would also help you earn more money.
