The unit price isn't universal even for one supplier... they have different unit prices depending on what plan you're on, if you pay by DD, where you live, if you have an online tarif, a fixed tarif, a capped tarif, use Economy 7, etc etc etc. And usually you have a set price for the first x Kwh and then a second price for any Kwh after that... so what you're asking in wanting to know the unit price is almost like asking the price for a sandwich... what filling do you want, what bread, do you want butter or marg? and so on :)
The reason the price comparison sites ask you for who you're with etc is because part of their selling point is that they show you how much you could save based on your current usage. Very few people bother looking at the unit price unless they're an MSE addict :)

Ebico unit charge for gas is currently 3.675p inc VAT

Where can I get gas for 2.625p/kWh please?

...At the end of the day standing charges are irrelevant, the only important thing is the total cost for the year.

Unless at the end of the day in question, you haven't used any gas ;)

With a standing charge, you will always pay the charge no matter how much or how little you consume.

Rot again. They do not charge a DAILY standing charge. They do have standing charges that are paid for from an UNLIMITED number of units charged at the higher rate Tier 1 price....
definition of standing charge: a fixed amount of money that you pay for being provided with a service such as gas, electricity, water, or a telephone line

What is the fixed amount of money that ebico charge for providing gas or electricity to their customers?

so whats wrong with just asking for postcode and then listing the unit price alongside each tariff eg.

    phone billing - 3.5p unit
    direct debit - 3.2p unit
    online tariff - 3.1p unit

The how much you can save is theoretical it is based on assumptions of usage and also the comparison site correctly guessing your current tariff, and as I said the numerous different plans is a deliberate tactic to cause confusion.

I was talking about their electricity prices, as you well know.

    That's the whole
point! It's not a fixed amount of money. Their 'standing' charges are uncapped and unlimited whereas a daily standing charge is fixed and the two tier standing charge is capped. Of course, for many of their likely customers this uncapped sum will still be smaller than they would pay elsewhere.

No, not with the two tier tariff - there the standing charge is capped and is zero if you use zero units.

The OP's subject is "What is your weekly standing charge?" Ebico's tariff makes it very complicated to answer this question.
  • Hi folks yeah we are with Npower, I take it they are not a good choice?

that is high, equates to £36 on a quarterly bill so you will be paying nearly £40 a quarter in the summer when you using next to nothing.

I pay 13.36p a day which per quarter is around £12
    so £4 a month £1 a week.

if you want to compare unit price also mine is 3.17p unit

Chrysalis are you on prepay too?

What the hell are you on Kim? - Ebico do not charge a standing charge. STANDING CHARGE IS A SET AMOUNT YOU PAY IF YOU DO NOT USE ANY ELECTRIC/GAS. If you do not use any electric or gas with Ebico (or quite possibly some other suppliers on some of their tariffs), you do not pay anything). That means they do not charge a standing-charge. Is this so difficult for you to understand??!!
