Hiya
Dont know if this helps, im on a no standing charge tariff, however with scottish power on a prepayment gas meter, it is only 74 pence per week.
Your standing charges are very high - are you with Npower?
Cheers

Dee, who are you with?
People shouldn't be fooled into thinking they're not paying a standing charge if they have a tariff where the first X units are charged at a higher rate, and the remainder at a lower rate.
For example, my elevtricity is charged at 11.19p per unit for the first 900 units, then 8.73p per unit there after with no standing charge.
The standing charge is actually hidden; it's (11.19p-8.73p) x 900 = £22.14/pa or ~£0.46 per week.
The only tariffs that I know are truly "no standing charge" are Ebico's gas and electricity products, and I buy my gas from them.43580 -
Scottish Hydro Electric do not have a standing charge for their prepayment customers.0

But they charge an extra £7.60 odd per month in Tier 1 charges.
Standing charges (whether daily or two tier) vary between £3.50 and £15 per per month per fuel depending on region, tariff, payment method and supplier.0 -

To be pedantic, the standing charge you pay with Ebico is unlimited - it is pro rata to your useage, it is not "truly 'no standing charge'". Remember they only charge you higher Tier 1 unit charges. Other companies have a fixed daily standing charge or a capped two-tier "standing" charge. Ebico's charges are uncapped.
(I am not saying that this is a bad thing.)0 -
atleast with ebico you dont have to be a maths genius to work out what your paying.
all the other suppliers seem to have different rates depending on the time of day, wether you put your washing on blindfolded, cook your tea hopping on one foot whilst playing the banjo or just because its raining.
ebico all the way for me, its what you see is what you get, and for low users such as myself on prepay meters they cant be beaten.0 -

At the end of the year it's the total you have been charged for what you used that is important.0 -

In regards to above, im on a no standing charge tariff with scottishpower, its an online energy account and it is economy 7 storage heaters. i have saved over £230.00 by doing it online and i also use everything on the night rate (as this is when it is cheaper) eg tumble dryer, washing machine etc - you just need to know how to work this system. All in all, our monthly bill is about 90.00 per month and ive got the tumble dryer on for 6 hours per day - which is very cheap compared to what i was paying on monthly direct debit - £149.00 per month.
I called the energy efficiency number for them and they were vry helpful.
If you need any info, let me know.

And where do you get this figure from and source information please, not what you have typed.0
