Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 13th October. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Good morning all
Another early start for me - I'm just settling down in front of my computer after feeding cells
I need to order a new filter for the fish tank.
I was bidding on a dress on ebay last night, but failed after the snipe program didn't connect - I couldn't wait around for it, so had to go home.
It was a shame, I already have one that style so know it fits (I have a narrow waist and am top-heavy so hate buying dresses), I had planned to dye it for the Christmas party at work. We are already booked - ours are at the beginning of the month as we have a lot of people who travel back to their respective countries. That scares me. I bought mince pies to work yesterday :rotfl: OH's christmas present turned up in the post yesterday too.
OH had a letter from his solicitor last night - her solicitor is blaming me for the delay now. I am so annoyed. Nobody has contacted me at all about this, I have had no papers to reply to and yet they still over-estimate my telepathic ability. And my willingness to co-operate. Honestly - it will damage both sides case if I do send in an answer - there is little incentive for me to agree to what she wants and yet I am still expected to. The only thing that would happen is that OH might get his divorce faster - but then time doesn't really matter any more as he's been trying to get shot of this for years now and has a court date set for early next year. But still, she's not budging - she doesn't have to drag me into the melee at all *sigh*
OS wise I did some laundry last night. I cooked spinach, brie and chicory omelette for tea last night, but then decided I didn't want to eat it so it's still on the pan on the stove. I had some marshmallows then went to bed. I should have put it in the fridge, but I didn't think to.
I sold my first ever item on amazon which I have to dispatch tomorrow (I didn't realise until I got in and had an email waiting for me or I'd have done it today). I'm going to start putting the little extra bits of money into my building society account now they have sanctioned a new pass book for me yesterday. I have to mail an ebay seller as there is a recorded delivery parcel waiting for me in the depot - and they were supposed to send the item 2nd class so it went through the door. I don't really mind, I just need to know what it is before I make the trek - if it isn't that, then I'm not going. I very rarely buy things I need to collect from them as it's a long walk to depot for me (6.5 miles) and not somewhere I feel comfortable taking the bike.
I didn't get round to ebaying stuff last night - I will try harder today
Have a good day all, cel x

Morning Peeps
warmish again here this morning, hoping for a bright and sunny day with a gentle breeze as i stripped the bed this morning and started the washing machine before i left the house.
Little black cat has gone out and refused to come back in so i left a dish of food on the back doorstep for her, she did have a nibble before she went out but will be hungry again before i get home.
Plans for later are to blitz the bedroom and have a good hoover round before putting all the doggie beds back together - they dried on the line nicely yesterday afternoon, as i don`t have the houndies here atm i`ve turned the heating back off, i had left it on the thermostat for the little oldie but when he comes back home he will be used to being covered up and outside under DH`s tent thingy so i should be able to keep it off for a while longer
Bit tired this morning - i was just nodding off last night when the phone rang, someone asking about a television that i have advertised for sale
Wish they had rung a bit earlier as it took me ages to drop off again afterwards. Might have an hour later if i still feel tired.
Offski to do some w*rk now but i shall pop back later.
Have a good day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -

Morning All
JackieO - its very chilly here - could see my breath this morning.
Quite looking forward to today as got loads of office work done yesterday which means will be outa here by mid morning today. So plan to do some housework, make chicken stock & do some baking. Have run out of toilet rolls & kitchen towell so will pop to Makro's to stock up again, hopefully they will have some on special if not it will be their own brand which is more than acceptable.
Hopefully will stay dry today & be one of those lovely crisp Autumn days, may also have a look at the farm shop for pumpkins. Tesco gave me a leaflet yesterday which showed roast pumpkin with a roast dinner - anyone tried it?? Will it be like marrow, think I may have mentioned on here before that I love Marrow :rotfl:
Big spider was waiting for me on the stairs this morning, tried to get it & failed & it has disappeared. Hope it stays disappeared when DD gets up - she will scream the place down if not. OH removed 6 from our front room the other night
Anyway, no idea what I am having for lunch but its leftover chicken turned into curry for dinner.
Have a great day (((hugs))) for anyone who wants one especially Cranky & George.x0 -
Morning all
I'm so excited about going to work today, my new machine has been delivered, how sad am I, lol.
I've been thinking a lot about the grievence meeting, I put my case as clearly as possible, but I'm well aware that it won't be the end of the problem whichever way the decision goes so I have decided to carry on fighting, no point backing down now. TBH, I'm a lot more !!!!!! off than I am scared.
Corned beef sarnies for lunch again today, Egg on toast for tea, again.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone.
So the cycle of broken sleep continues. I swear I had better sleep when DD was a newborn and waking every 4 hours  DS woke at 3am and was still awake at 4am  and then DD started stirring at 5.30am  Luckily I managed to keep her quiet for about 45 mins in her cot before she demanded she get up. DS is exhausted too with going to nursery every day but doesn't seem to sleep any better.
Sorry for the whinge but I am so tired all the time - I don't have the energy to do any exercising in the evenings which in turn doesn't help my fitness or losing baby weight  Just feel a little fed up with it all this morning.....
Off to the fracture clinic this morning with DD. I assume they will take her cast off and see how her wrist is doing. Hope that doesn't drag on too long. Fortunately I have an early appointment but no idea how much of my morning that will take up.
No idea what's for tea - freezer is stuffed to the gills after my Costco trips of late - it's a real pain getting anything in or out it's so full :rotfl:
Washing up to date whoo hoo!!!!! So I guess that leaves the joy of dusting and vaccing
Jayne - Glad to see you still posting xxx
Celyn - sorry your OH's ex is still being a PITA
Curly - that has to be the shorted post on the Daily I've ever seen :rotfl:
Hugs to those that need them, have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all, cold here, but looks like it will be bright later.
Yesterday was a beautiful day, I got 2 loads of towels dry on the line, other than that yesterday was a washout I spent most of the day in bed, I think I had food poisioning and really did not feel better till last night.
So today I need to have a good clean and tidy through, and do another wash.
Tea tonight will be hm meat pie with mash and veg, dd will have veggie option.
I have ordered a lot of xmas presents online, an pretty much on top of it, apart from my dd, i have not got a clue what to get her
Jayne and George, in my thoughts as always xx
Hester :T good for you bullying is never accepctable x
Bitsy, hope you manage to have a rest later xx
I felt so rough last night that OH had to cook, he opened the cupboard, and routed around and announced he was making egg fried rice, which he did with all the left over little bits of veg etc ( he is learning) , it was delish.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Hi,
Bitsy -I do sympathise. I remember when my kids were little and chronic sleep deprivation does funny thing toyou and the kids. I remember that my kids dad and me had a standup fight one night cos we were both so tired about whose turn it was to get up. Ended up waking up 4 kids and our neighbours . Its just a thought but he might be getting too tired and maybe an afternoon nap for an hour and then an hour later to bed might shift his wakeup time forward. it wont work instantly. Then you can phase out the afternoon nap again if he doesn't have one. You have probably tried it but I do understand how you feel. Now I lie awake waiting for my two eldest to come in !!!
Have not posted for a while. Very worried and anxious about things including DS1 and my work/ retirement situation which is being handled very badly by all concerned in the NHS. Having to get second opinions etc which im gonna have to pay for
OS - I am slowly getting organised this week. My kids dad cleaned offending carpet and hall for me and it works brilliantly. So very happy with my purchase. I made a lovely root vegetable red thai curry on Sunday which tasted yum and which was eaten by everyone. I was very pleased as not very good on my feet in the kitchen.
Hope everyone doing ok. Sending a hug to tose who need it.
Love, MollyxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Thank Molly. DS keeps telling me he's tired but won't go for a nap. I think I may force the issue if it happens again today and see how he goes. My only stumbling block will be he wants me to sit with him (he's all clingy since starting nursery) and with DD in tow it's not that easy.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Maybe he is "overtired" and needs a short nap in the afternoon?....Its just a thought but he might be getting too tired and maybe an afternoon nap for an hour and then an hour later to bed might shift his wakeup time forward.....
Just what I said!Bitsy_Beans wrote: »Thank Molly. DS keeps telling me he's tired but won't go for a nap. I think I may force the issue if it happens again today and see how he goes. Could you have "quiet time" for the 3 of you on your bed, maybe with dimmed lights and a story? Don't forget to set the alarm though, in case you all nod off! I guess it would probably do you good to have a snoozle to keep you going too...?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
