Wow hob, your stuff is amazing!:T:T:T
I wish I had a fraction of your talent - I loved the Christmas cards and that painting you did and all your cute little toys. If you're not selling them already then you should start.

You've inspired me to pick up the sadly neglected poncho. I might finish it in time for winter 2010 lol :o

Glad you got into a Christmassy mood with films - I love those ones too. I love wrapping presents with a Christmassy film on.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

    Hi Hob,

    How are you doing?

Just had a look at your blog - i really like the stuff you have made, esp the sock cat and the xmas cards!
I'm not very creative myself, except with cooking. i love cooking and trying new recipes or making it up as I go along. It's usually pretty successful, though my first attempt at mushroom risotto when i was at uni wasn't v good!

I like the idea of crafting for xmas and I'm going to try and make a xmas stocking for my best friend, kathryn. I've got a stocking that OH bought me that i can use as a template, and I've got some red and cream felt and some christmassy ribbon from the market. Will let you know how I get on......

I'm also beginning to think about buying xmas food eg cranberry sauce, stuffing, snacks, party food etc. i'd prefer to get the things that can be frozen or will last now, like you are, cos then there's less to worry about closer to the time.

Have you tried Winter Pimms? http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/sainsburys-price-comparison/Spirits/Pimms_Winter_700ml.html

Its nice if you warm in a pan with apple juice and fills the house with a lovely smell.

Anyway, hope you're having a good weekend.

  • Hi hob,

I've only just found this thread, you are such an amazing person, you should feel really proud of everything you are doing for Craig. Re the Christmas tree and your cat, you can get wall hanging half trees, if you get one of those then if you hang it high enough off the floor then maybe the cat wouldn't be able to get it? There is one on ebay at the moment, as a new poster I can't post the link but if you search wall christmas tree it should come up, the current bid is £4.99

You take care, I'm sure your christmas will be really special

hob..............glad things are working out moneywise and with the day centre.
The soft trees I've done are like the one in the first picture on the soft tree thread........sort of natural fabric but where that ones decorated with buttons I've wound some gold thread with stars on in a diagonal fashion round mine. Can't show you as I don't have a digi camera and all that hi tech stuff -probably wouldn't have a clue how to use it anyway..............:rotfl:
I got a couple of metal decorations from the Poundshop yesterday while OH was at the hospital.............got a santa and a reindeer and fosterdaughter got the same plus few more bits. Had fun round the charity shops.......she got a heap of skirts and jumpers and I got a poncho/cape type short coat..........lovely and warm.
Done more or less nothing today..........OH feels more tired than he did after the hospital -it was a long day or least seemed like it so I feel shattered. Wrote a few letters and that was about it........oh I did go into town and post first christmas parcel to my son and copied some photos of grandson to put in his winnie the pooh album.........thats all done now. Sweets bought for reindeer poo and snowballs..............just have to fill up the pots and that'll be it.
    Keep at it..................you're doing great..............:T
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Hi Hob,
The blokes's toiletries sound fine - the guys I work with always seem to appreciate it. And lots of little cheaper prezzies means so much more paper to rip off which is always fun! I wish we had a home bargains round here. I keep seeing people mentioning all the bargains they've had, and getting jealous.
I think buying a gift for the careworker should be ok as long as it's something reasonably priced. It's a lovely idea and I'm sure it'll be appreciated, but they probably have rules about what they're allowed to accept. I think in our organisation it's token gifts of a few quid, but I don't have the info to hand to check at the moment. Perhaps Craig could do one of his cards or make something to go with it - the personal touch always means more, I think.

I think we should do a swap - I'll cook and you can sew. I'd love to be able to make stuff but it never seems to turn out right and I have to go running to friends to put it right.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
