The thing is, if Ryanair stopped free payment by Visa Electron, they'd have to find another card for free payment - otherwise they wouldn't be able to advertise 1p flights.

They could still offer 1p flights with any old card and use the other, higher fares to subsidise them, just as they do now. There just mightn't be quite as many 1p fares. Visa Electron has nothing to do with it, it could just as easily be Amex, or Diner Club.

    Isn't that what I said?

Are you privy to Ryanair's financial affairs?

It might very well be that Visa are paying them to accept Visa Electron for free!

Anyway, what's the point in talking hypothetically? Ryanair haven't announced an end to Visa Electron for free - and in fact, are openly stating that they wish to move as many customers as possible to the card.

What's more likely is them putting a stop to 'Entropay' style virtual cards.

Oh, how the doom mongers love to spread RYANAIR IS EVIL BECAUSE THEY MIGHT STOP ACCEPTING VISA ELECTRON FOR FREE type nonsense.

    But they can't do that!

I don't think anyone disputes that O'Leary expects his staff to work hard - but the rewards are great. Unlike on BA, a young cabin crew member can expect fairly rapid promotions if they work for it - whereas with airlines such as BA, you could be waiting years to get a promotion - and even then, you might be expected to go without pay (as what happened recently!).

  • does anyone know if ryanair have cottoned on to entropay style cards?

i just tried to buy a flight with an entropay number, putting it through as visa electron...

i use firefox. after going through everything, the window now says:

    "
Error - Your session has been locked

We are experiencing some difficulties with the website. Please wait 10 seconds and if you are not redirected back click here."

no matter what I do, it stays on that window.

However, logging in via Opera, I see that the payment has been declined :/....... I put the account holding name as ''entropay user''....was i not supposed to? that's what's written on my 'virtual card'. Should I put my own name and billing address?
