I've been reading my cookery books and looking online. Doesn't anybody do proper old fashioned fairy cakes any more? Why have we become so Americanised that we have to have cupcakes and muffins. Muffins are bread that you have for tea, not some squishy oversized sponge thing.
Same goes for cookies, whats wrong with proper biscuits that go crunch when you eat them?

P.S don't anybody start me on trick or treating!

2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Another day over. So glad the early starts and long days are over. I can do early, just not tied in with late finishes.

I've had a garbled message from agency regarding the interview, but have tried to ring and got no answer. I think I heard the word 'references' in which case I need to speak to them as don't want current employer contacted unless they plan on offering me the job.

Tea last night was a cheapish chicken curry, could have been cheaper but used chicken breast rather than my usual combination of thigh etc. Chicken was £2, jar of curry 69p. I know there are cheaper curry sauces, but we find them too salty. Home made chips for DS and rice for me. There's a spare container full to go in freezer and one of curry and rice to take for lunch one day this week.

I can't get anything else in my freezer at the moment, which is bothering me a bit as I have to start Christmas stuff soon. May need to get chest freezer back from Mum's shed.

Will be doing extra mileage this week as out straight from work tomorrow and then interview on either Thursday or Friday, still not sure which, so filled the car up today rather than my usual of filling up on Friday morning, and then hoping it doesn't run out towards the end of the week. If I fill up on Monday's its only weekends and I don't need to use the car, for the amount I do, I can easily carry it on the bus.

Evening, I brought what I call "buns / fairy cakes" into work and they were all confused thinking I'd brought bread rolls

They said "Do you mean cupcakes?" so I know what you mean.... and yes, I call them biscuits - I have nothing against Americans - but don't like Americanisms either :)

But I would love a chest freezer - I might have to stick that on my Cosmic wish list.

Good luck with the job xx

Ooh, you're having a meet! Enjoy!

Um, about the freezer.... if its full, couldn't you use some of the stuff, run it down before Christmas, so to speak? :o:o:o Says she who got a freezer 4 weeks ago. Oops.

Yey, us northerners don't get out much!

I know I should use stuff up out of the freezer, but its really annoying when you cook fresh and have left overs, that there's no room for them. I do wonder what it is that's in there taking up all the space though? Plastic containers full of cooked stuff - maybe a defrosting session is due.

Going back to telly watching, I think I've watched every single episode of QI now. Glad there's a new series on the beeb.

The best one I heard was when I said some skin cream was meant to be like Ajax for your face. My younger friend said innocently "What's Ajax?" :rotfl: Bless.

Then truly, don't cook any more fresh stuff! You've cooked all those ready portions, give yourself a break :j

See now, I'd like my telly back for that as well. I really like QI.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"Ajax! We were lucky to 'ave Ajax! We had to use ..." I give up, I can't think of anything more horrible than Ajax.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Off to watch a DVD - see you tomorrow
