Morning! Thats great - how wonderful to be able to have that ability to do it! A shame the money has to be "spent" that way, but at that rate it'll be gone soon.

2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • I feel quite pleased that I've paid it off. Mainly because I got paid early for next week, and won't really be spending any money between now and New Year.

Next is the other cc, but am really concentrating on overpaying the mortgage, so will be keeping a closer eye on that. Main targets for next year are health and weight and of course it is all assuming I have enough work.

Deciding which film to watch while sitting with my glass of wine, wrapping presents; It's a wonderful life, Love Actually or Miracle on 34th street - I've got them all on DVD, or see what is on telly.

    Well its nearly over!

DS is in work, most of the things that can be cooked in advance are done, had a trundle round the diaries, done online banking, so now all I have to do is eat and rest.

Hope anyone reading has a good day, whatever it is you are doing.

Happy Christmas to you, Gilli. We are still cooking (we are always rather late) but it is nice. Grown up sons helping; all three boys really nice, no tension, no arguments, just calmness and optimism. So different from last year.

Hope you will have a great 2011

Happy Boxing Day, gill! Hope its all gone well for you, whether you've stayed at home or been out and about. I was out at my sister's, had a lovely time, and been home for a few hours now - shutting down the lappie again, I'm going to eat something and watch Top Gear - bliss! Speak soon

  • Morning each

Christmas Day was not *quite* as relaxing as I'd hoped; various reasons including, but not exclusively, controlling sister, work mucking DS about, Mum laying a guilt trip on me. Next year I am definitely having the day I want, and everyone else can fit around me. I've had enough of trying to please everyone, and its never going to happen.

DS got me a lovely present, even if I didn't get to open it until nearly midnight.

Mum varies in her present giving, from the absolutely brilliant, to the 'what on earth made her think I'd want that?' this year is the latter. Every year she asks me what I'd like, I give her some suggestions and then she goes her own way.

Unlike Ms fresian, I didn't hit the sales. I know its the best time to get bargains, but I hate shopping. However I did give DS money so suspect that we are hitting the retail park today, and will probably pick up a few bits.

I've just realised its Monday and I'm off..:jhardly watched any telly, but enjoying the break.

Sorry it went like that ... and it sounds like DS had to work all day! But at least he was thoughtful himself, when his present to you was so spot-on, thats nice.

Mothers ... it would've been okay to have her at my sister's for the celebrations, but that would also have meant she'd be here with me now, and that would have been unbearable. But you actually did get it, and all day too. I hope some of the next few days can make up for it - for instance, no way I'm going to the sales, all lurgified and whatnot, but on john lewis alone, there's 20 pages of reduced womenswear - I'm shopping for a dress to wear at a wedding in April...

    Speak later, take care.

  • Hi KC

I do love my Mum, but sometimes I don't like her very much IYKWIM.

I am just chilling with part of my pressie from my sister. She bought me a lovely set,I think it was from Boots, a big china cup and a sudoko book, and then we realised there was something else in it. Loose tea. She was horrified, I was made up. Real tea tastes so much nicer than bags, even if it is a faff.

You doing John Lewis online for the outfit for the wedding? Or will you brave the shops?

Sister is 50 this year and I want to get her tickets for Wimbledon, my form is in the ballot, but need to investigate alternatives, not really up for queuing overnight though!

Oh definitely online! You can get it delivered to your nearest Waitrose, returns are free, and my sister gave me the tip of ordering two sizes and returning one, so I'm up for it. Its going to be quite a swanky do - its in London, my nephew is an IFA, his fiance is a dentist, they both earn oodles of money - and we also have the new Polish rellies to impress!
