  • Cupboard/dresser thingy arrived! Woohoo! Now I have somewhere to [STRIKE]dump stuff[/STRIKE] file things away.

DS had a go at under the stairs, and found a computer desk! He had collapsed it and put it there when he got a new shiny black glass one,in case he changed his mind about throwing it. It's in far better nick than mine so may use it as its a nice beech one from Ikea.

Have shifted all the furniture round in dining room, it now looks so much better. All the crafty stuff is hidden away apart from the finished things. DS is ****ed off because the mantelpiece has baskets full of sweets all wrapped up and he wants to eat them! Have been buying sweets in pound shops and the like but found a website with loads of old fashioned sweets, so am going to give them a try. Big jars of sherbet lemons!! May do a retro sweet jar for my sister, have a kilner jar I could put them in. Other than that still no ideas for her, so she'll probably end up with the usual body shop goodies.

Got more orders for stocking fillers!!

Done no food shopping yet, going to Morrisons so can use the £5 voucher from the petrol. Will also do an Iceland trip.

Budget for food this week is £40 with some money for Christmas extras, so a total of £80. Veg order is in with farm, turkey is ordered - all budgeted for.

Have seen a job thats just up my street but its through an agency, so always a bit unsure. You have to just ring for a preliminary interview, which seems a bit odd. Will ring them on Monday. there is also a really good one, but it needs healthcare knowledge; not sure why it matters particularly so may just send CV anyway.

I would apply for the job - what have you got to lose?

  • Ok, so rang up about the job, they emailed me the info, and its a company I used to work for so seems genuine enough. Have got to go and speak to agency on Monday taking CV etc. with me, not sure why as they already have CV on file.

The one that was Project Management but healthcare turned out to be very specific knowledge about endocrinolgy, so no way was it worth applying.

  • Payday yesterday so

    £30 gas and leccy
    £25 petrol

    Leaves £50 for everything else.

DS has given me £50 towards the food shop for Christmas on condition he can come with me. Fair enough, just have to restrain him in the alcohol aisle! Just because he's given me money doesn't mean it can all go on booze. Especially as I don't drink.

Work today will be manic, party season in full swing.

    As regards organising
    Pastry - done
    Mincemeat - made
    Chutney - made
    Cakes - made
    Tree up

Have got all the ingredients for the truffles for Christmas Eve so will do them next week, have found all the little wrappers hiding in a box.

Just had a delivery - 7:45am, royal mail could really wake the dead, good job I was already up and about! Parcel of sweets from online shop, all sorts of retro stuff, love hearts, fruit salads and those chocolate buttons with bits on. Going to make up some packs for my sister as she is insistent I don't spend much on her for Christmas. Any left can go into little packs, I've checked the dates and they'll be fine up to next Christmas so may do something with them for Easter.

When I was working would have got paid next week, so need to work all the big stuff out, mortgage, council tax etc. and see what is left.

Had a nasty phone call yesterday from a firm of solicitors. Went round the usual circle, they wanted me to confirm ID, I wanted to know what it was about first. Turns out it was about Vanquis. I am paying them every now and again, but they want a regular agreement which I'm not prepared to do except if its for £1. In the last 2 months have PaDded over £15 to them, which is more than they were getting when I was on DMP so not sure what their problem is.

Sorry to hear about the solicitors, hope you manage to keep them off your back for a bit...

I love the sound of the retro sweets though, I cold eat Sherbet Lemons right now! :D
Good luck with the agency on Monday, it would be a nice lead into the New Year to have an interview lined up.
    Have a nice evening :)

    Thanks
I'm going to wait until they write, and then send them a printout showing how much I've paid direct to Vanquis.
If they insist, they can have £1 a month, but I need to be certain what is happening with the money I am paying direct to vanquis.

Am sat here next to my beautiful tree, so need to work out when I can get stuff wrapped to go under it! Mum is coming up today, to help blitz the house. Well I say help, she's not quite as agile as she used to be but she loves ironing, so I will park her with a DVD on the telly, a stack of ironing, and a cup of coffee and she will plough her way through it for me! While I get on with the rest. This is the last time I tidy until Christmas Eve, when its the big one.
Will be really busy next week as company I do part time courier stuff have got extra work in run up to Christmas. They are even giving me a a little van.

need to get wireless router sorted. When I rebuilt this little computer it wouldn't work wirelessly, only works wired, and thought it was this, but son had to do something to his Xbox and that won't connect wirelessly now either. Will go on techie board and ask.

    like these

to me these are the 'proper' ones, not the ones in wrappers, although they are made by the same company.

I've bought her some of these too!

hi gill sorry you are having trouble with vanquis - they don't exactly have a good reputation so don't take it personally

Glad xmas prep still going well!

  • House now blitzed! Just need to keep on top of it until Christmas.

Meeting sister today to try and get something for Mum, running out of ideas. Going to sisters again later as brother has rung to say he's coming across and this is the only chance he has before Christmas, so will have to wrap his pressie. Last year didn't get to see him until New Years Eve. Before he was separated, we used to go up on Boxing Day. One of the problems with divorce is that we no longer get to see the nephews. He only sees them at weekends and obviously is not going to interrupt what time he has in order to go visit relatives.

Used £5 Morrisons voucher yesterday and actually got some bargains. Don't know the layout of Morrisons very well but managed not to buy too much.
