I put mine in a massive sandwich bag, but any airtight container will do. You can use the bag off a shop bought loaf of bread aswell.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • Ty pickle does it have the same life span as a shop bought loaf or should it be consumed quicker?

I wrap mine in a tea towel
  • I wrap mine in a tea towel too, we've found home made bread makes a lot more crumbs, so use this as an excuse to eat it really quickly :)

I find HM bread only last a few days before going hard. I normally make it and if I know I won't use the loaf up within 2 days, I will freeze some slices in sandwich bags to use at later date. This works well for me as I live on my own and don't eat that much bread daily.

I've kept some old bread bags from the days before we had the breadmaker and I just use those. They're getting a bit tatty so I'm asking friends to save some of theirs for me. And I have some of those plastic clip things from Tesco to keep them closed and keep the air out.

I reuse shop bought bread bags as well. I do sometimes buy bread out the shops so I've got a ready supply. I reuse a lot of shop packaging so this is just one more item to save. Or you could ask a neighbour?

  • We wrap ours in greaseproof and then pop it in a big Quality Street tin; normally absolutely fine for the couple of days or so it takes to eat it all :)
