Still the sniffles in this house but at least that means I'm catching up with my daily clicks.

Will pay my £1 for the day and then do some competitions I think. Have a good day! x

Just withdrawn another £5 from Lightspeed for doing surveys for them. Is that something that you have looked into?

Hi NDD (hope I can call you that )

I've just sat and read all your diary, you sound so focused and just reading it has given me new hope that I might actually be able to pledge to a £1 a day and keep to it :rotfl:

Now, which do I pay first

This is a big problem for me right now:

need to get my overdraft paid off though as its worrying me now halifax will soon be charging me £1 per day.

I got a letter from the Halifax a while ago which I ignored  read a subsequent one that was reminding me about these charges that came into effect last week

This means that I will be paying £30/31 a month for the priveledge of a £200 overdraft  (where the hell do they get off!! It's like they've turned into a payday loan place over night!!).

So realistically I should pay this off first as I do have a credit card with £500 on it, the Halifax OD has irritated me more and there's nowt much in the interest charges between them.

Problem I have here is, if I pay a £1 into the account everyday, that money is still available to me at the cashpoint and I have no control over money so know that at any weak point I will take it out. There's no point in telling me to be strong......I won't :undecided.

So, how do I do this?

You are quite an inspiration, good luck for your 900 odd days left, I am sure you will be debt free far sooner than you imagine :)

Hope everything's okay with you and your OH.

  • Hi

Just rounded down my account so paid £8 towards my credit card. Have just noticed that I've been calculating my money paid to Tesco incorrectly - I've been deducting the amounts I've paid rather than adding - DOH!!! I have £2,410.04 left to pay so will update my signture after I've posted (I was always better at English than Maths!).

Novagirl. wishing you all better soon, although you do sound as if you're having a nice chill out! I'm so glad it's Friday today, it's been a really busy week and the dark mornings and nights really don't help! I'll check out Lighspeed over the weekend - thanks for the tip!

jo1972, thanks for popping in and bothering to take time out to read my diary. I have found that it's helped me to remain focussed. Usually I have no trouble thinking up new ideas and plans, it's just sticking to them that's the problem!! Now your little dilemma - could you set up a sealed pot and pay your pounds into that? Or if you do on-line banking could you set up a savings account to pop in your £1s and then when you have saved the £200 pay it all in one go? The only problem is that you won't be reducing your overdraft as you go. So what if Novagirl and I dare you not to withdraw any money from your account and if you do, you have to pay a fine to the BHF which is a charity that Novagirl raises money for??!!! Spending is all in the mind.... I used to lob things on the credit card like there was no tomorrow, but after joining MSE I spend "consciously" and have different values now where money is concerned. Don't get me wrong, I still have splurges but I make sure that I pay cash and not by credit card - the difference being is that there are less splurges and I can afford to have them now and again. I'm sure if you focus you could clear the £200 in no time and you have the strength NOT to withdraw the dosh

    Have a great day everyone!

jo1972, great to see you on the thread. I always like to pop by on NoDebtDiva's diary to see that she's payin her £1s. You feel like you have to do the same then which keeps you motivated. I like the idea of the sealed pot!

Is halifax the only account you have? Was going to say that if it isn't, just leave that card at home (in the freezer!) and use anothr account that isn't charging you all that money every day. Might be worth just looking into opening a basic account elsewhere.

Oh and WOOOOOHOOOOO, it's Friday! I have a few friends coming round so best get clearing up so they have somewhere to sit. Off to help my Grandad later as well to do some Christmas cards so a NSD here. :) Have a couple of ebay listings going too which hopefully will sell this week.

    Happy Friday. x
  • Hello - TGIF!!

I managed to skip away from work a little earlier tonight so am mega organised for the weekend. Called in to Tescos on my home home so the weekly shop is done, the children are in bed and a glass of wine is calling! I'm going to have a chilled weekend and just catch up on some last minute Christmas preparations. If the rain stays away I'm also going to try and go for a walk......

    Have a great evening!

Hmmmm not sure I do have the strength to leave money if I know I could get it! The Halifax account is the only one I got so everything goes in there and back out again  Think I might set up a few sealed pots, one for the car tax, mot, crimbo etc etc. But I need to pay the OD off now and as soon as possible.....might have to look into this ebay/shoe thing

Have a chilled weekend NDD, unfortunately I'm working all over the weekend and I'm coming down with the lurgy :(

    xx

Be prepared for some very weird questions from some bidders! :rotfl:Well, it provides entertainment in the evenings.
  • Oh the dreaded lurgy! So many people I know have had some sort of cold/flu/sickness during December. Make sure you get the Vicks out - apparently it's good to rub on your feet - haven't tried that but know people who have and swear by it!!!:D

So clearing the overdraft it is then! Set a plan in place and go for it! And remember "Do not let what you can't do interfere with what you can do". So leave that cashpoint alone!!!!

I'm going to be on a mission with Ebay during 2010 - novagirl had a great result with a pair of slippers! I have stacks of stuff in the attic which I need to clear out - going to try and de-clutter by Spring (which seems ages away but I've been trying to get sorted for about 3 years!!!). I get bored easily and the listing drives me mad - I do enjoy watching the bids though!!

Don't work too hard tomorrow :cheesy:
  • Morning!

How cold is it - the frost looks fab!

Just paid my daily £1 and lobbed a further £34 at my credit card - slowly but surely.

Hard to believe that it's 9 weeks today that I started my journey to be debt free in 1,000 days - there's 937 left to go! I've nearly squashed my TCC and on track to clear by 18th January 2010. Thanks to all of you who have popped in to read my diary - thinking that people are sharing my journey has really spurred me on!

Nothing very exciting planned for today. My jobs for today:

    1. I'm definately going to finish my Christmas cards so I can post them tomorrow
    2. Plan this and next week
    3. Washing & a quick flurry through the house
    4. Make a list of the outstanding things I need to do before Chrimbo

Gosh, I'm nearly falling asleep just thinking about that lot! Anyway, must get cracking, I'm off to make a curry first so I haven't got to worry about meals tonight and can just veg in front of X Factor!!

    Have a great day... x
