Because these days it's very hard to know what to buy people I now prepare a birthday list (and my husband does the same).

Mine contains specific chocolates, books, toiletries, makeup etc.

It works quite well because I get what I want and other people have less stress.

If something comes up through the year that I want and it isn't urgent then I add it to my birthday or christmas list.

I think it's a general problem these days because people have so much stuff.

The doctor advised that I didn't use bubble bath in my daughter's water - there may be a very simple explanation as to why it is unwanted!

I know but she was and still is still using it......anyhow not worried now it was just my initial thoughts when I first posted :D

I am honestly not worried now....and no I will not be saying anything to her (but yes I do know exactly her financial situation (she is very open with my hubby) and she is doing very well)

Arrrhhhh...just got back in from work to find all these replies!!!!

No don't think it is a money thing at all....they honestly have plenty of that. I was just a little sad that's all. I got her some bubble bath etc that is really expensive but as I knew she used it I splashed out for the baby.....never mind :) live and learn and all that :D

never buy people bubble bath etc especially if you've fallen out previously.

I refuse to buy things like that for people purely on the basis that if people bought it me i'd think they thought i smell.

I wouldn;t get too hung up about the "unwanted gift" thing....if you're going to sell something you have been given, how else would you describe it? I think that "unwanted gift" is merely a label to show that there is nothing wrong with the item and the reason for sale is not because it is faulty. It's just a standard term that can (clearly) be misunderstood by the giver of the gift (if that makes sense)
